You know the ones. They were awesome growing up, but once going back to them and seeing past the shiny, newness of it all, you see all those ugly cracks in the pavement. Mine are Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Sonic Adventure 2, and Pokémon Red and Blue.

The first Command and Conquer. I love it to death but it's bad sometimes. :D
Resident Evil 3, despite Nemmy being my favorite monster in the RE series.
The Sonic series.

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 from the early 2000s.

I just recently found my old PS1 from my childhood and decided to get nostalgic. They don't LOOK so bad, but my GOD the camera is dreadful. And the movement is so stiff--it's almost tank controls. But there's definitely some charm left.

Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 (visually).

Do you mean the movie games or the comic games? I loved the first comic Spider-Man game with What if? mode.

My old Spyro games, 1-3, are looking pretty rough around the edges. Same for Kiss: Psycho Circus - The Nightmare Child. Twas my first FPS.

A bit before my time, but I never understood the appeal of centipede?

Halo 2's gameplay is probably the worst in the series, but as a kid I loved that game better than the first.

I don't think they have aged that much. Yes the camera is pretty awful but I like to play them.

Resident Evil 3 is the best of the games with fixed camera at aging, 1 cell for the bazooka instead of 2, faster more fluid movement, playable characters dodge certain attacks.
And the classic side scrolling Sonic games aged very well.

Yeah, movements are stiff, at least no enemy is faster than the playable character.

Many side-scrollers
Goldeneye
Wrestling games on any console before PS3/Xbox 360 except certain games on GameCube and PS2

Soul of the Samurai
It's a 3D Konami game on the PS1, loved it when I first played it. Playing it again in recent years I found it to be very stiff and hardly playable.

Tenchu 1 & 2
Camera is annoying, controls are not as fun as I experienced before.
And for someone who generally does not care much about voice acting, especially in video games, Ayane's voice actress in Tenchu 2 make me cringe.

Eternal Warriors
The only Sega Genesis I have here to say I played, really liked before, don't like it now.

Really? I also love that game to death, but when I replay it, it still seems pretty timeless to me. To be fair though, it was my first videogame of all time and set me on the path of the PC gaming master race, back when all of my friends were into Super Nintendo and N64, so I might have super strong nostalgia goggles.

Street Fighter II. This game was a lot about patterns....in first three versions at least.

The Silent Hill games have clunky mechanics but I still love to play them for the artistic values.

Metal Gear Solid. The top down camera really makes it feel odd these days

Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 (visually).

Pretty much the whole 64/PSOne generation looks like garbage now. And a lot of them don't even hold up gameplay-wise. Playing shooters on the 64 without the second analog stick is frustrating.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1, and that's putting aside the obvious advancements in graphics, etc. I have no idea how my 15 year old self could sit in front of that thing all day. Went back to it recently and it just wasn't happening for me.

Driver 3. Unplayable now.

Mortal Kombat (original trilogy)
Twisted Metal 2
Resident Evil games on PS1

Metal Gear Solid. The top down camera really makes it feel odd these days

Oh i so disagree with this. I never played the game until right before MGS4 came out and thought it held up quite well. I just played it again before V nad that opinion hasnt changed

MGS1 still holds up I think. It was great to see the flashback in MGS4. :D
