Showbiz411 are reporting that Walker has indeed been cast in Mathew Vaughan's upcoming X prequel..

Matthew Vaughn’s “X Men: First Class” is picking up another cast member. Benjamin Walker, star of the Public Theater’s “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” is the name to remember. He’s going to play Beast, the character played in “X Men 3″ by Kelsey Grammer.

Walker is, like Grammar, is a Juilliard grad and is apparently the hottest newcomer in New York theater this season. His work includes portraying Kinsey (at age 19) in Kinsey, and Harlon Block in Flags of Our Fathers. Walker was also featured in the short-lived CBS drama series 3 lbs.

He looks like pre-blue Hank, doesn't he?

Check out this vid of Walker as posted in the News thread:

I wonder if the movie will portray this classic Beast panel:

Yay. Someone I've never heard of is playing Beast. I'm so excited. :woot:

I thought he looked fine in X3 and pretty much as expected. I wouldn't mind seeing a lot of reference to his transformation or his quest to suppress his mutation, but I don't think it's necessary for the first film.

The article mentioning this story on joblo.com says that he will be a pre-blue Beast.

It's still possible that he'll start out that way at least..

It'd be pretty sweet if the transformation is somewhere in the movie, it could be pretty beneficial to Prof. X's story in trying to help and make him understand to accept the changes and embrace them. Show him teaching these kids to harness their powers, something we never really saw in the first 3 movies.

We still don't know how much of the X-Men will actually be in this so leave that for when the audience actually gets to know Hank as a human. No problem saving it for a sequel if necessary.

OH EM GEE I too, am completely stoked! Loving that it's an unknown. Loving the direction they're going!

He does look like hank a bit, but I hope they go the pre blue fur route for this picture. Would make for a better story to show his gradual change into the beast that was in X3

Never heard of this actor before but i've reading up on his past work and he's been getting praise for his work in theater for a while now. He's also tall and seems to be in good shape which will be very helpfull when doing the physically demanding scenes Hank McCoy will have.

Like others i speculate that they're going the pre Beast route too. Maybe he'll have more hair on his body than you and i but he'll still look passable as a human.:o

Looking good (but I'm still a bit wary of Fox). Benjamin is 28 years old so they must be looking for people a bit older than typical students. I would like that alot.

well beast is several years older than some of the students anyway so casting him was perfect...

ya, I was hoping they'd cast Beast a bit older then the rest...

love the guys voice, he's got a bit of the gravel that made Grammer sound so awesome. looking forward to seeing what they give him to work with.

Yeah, at 28 years old, he can still be believable as a medical doctor.

this is perfect! im so excited. i just need to hear about Jean now.

he kinda looks Like a Hank kind of person don't mind i hope we don't get Blue Hank but it would be interesting to see him trying to cure himself and make a potion but he decides not to drink it and maybe we can save that potion for FC 2 where he becomes the Beast
