I found that movie horrible trash.
But hey thats what I get for reading the book first then watch the movie movie.

While i disagree with you that akira is crap ( it is one of my fav. animated flicks ) , í agree with you the books are far better.
BUt then again that is sorta expected since the animated movie came out before OTOMO finished the anime.

I freakin' love this movie!!! It should have been a big hit!! It even had music by Elton john AND Hans Zimmer!

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

It may have borrowed the first act from Stargate (minus the actual Stargate portal) but holds up well on it's own.

This movie kicked all kinds of ass! It's also the best anime/manga I've seen/read so far. "Neo Tokyo is about to E.X.P.L.O.D.E". Awesome.

The Iron Giant

Excellent example of how robots can make even a seemingly boring story good. (The story was good IMO).

Transformers: The Movie

Best. Soundtrack. Ever.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

So good, even Empire Magazine gave it five stars. And they hate everything!

Go watch Ghost in the Shell. It's just one of many anime movies that's loads better than Akira. Naruto: Shippuden is too. And a list of others.
