What figure would you guys consider the must own Batman figure?

the 1/6 scale takara Batman if you're willing to spend te money for one. But it has the best accuracy of any figure

Pfft, I think not. Even some of the hardcore 1/6 collectors agree that the only good things it has are the head sculpts, harness and hands. I had one myself, and believe me, it's FAR from accurate, I'll elaborate;

1. Body mass is that of a teenager's, whereas Bale is show to be MUCH more bulkier, especially in the suit.
2. Suit is junk. It's literally the rubber equivalent of fly paper, that and it probably won't last very long either.
3. Grapple gun is reduced in size, detail and accuracy. The one is Begins is much more detailed and larger.
4. Batarangs are too small compared to the ones used in Batman Begins.
5. Suit is inaccurate. The armor pieces are molded WITH the undersuit instead of being separately attached to the undersuit, like the movie suit.
6. Cape is cheap and inaccurate. The movie cape was FAR bigger than the one provided with the Takara Batman, it was also much thicker.

I'm glad I traded mine in for the HT one. The Takara is grossly exaggerated, and I can't believe how many people pay the outrageous prices on ebay for just one.

If you can, save yourself the wasted trouble and get the Hot Toys Batman.

Is it hard to find the 6inch Batman Begins collector's edition figure?

Best get two... the Hot Toys Batman has a tendency to snap and tear, so you'll want a backup.

You must be confused with the Takara version, from what Ive heard, the rubber suit on that version has the tendency to tear, since it's all one piece and made out of VERY cheap rubber. Ive had my HT Bats for awhile, and it hasn't torn or snapped, though when I had Takara version's, the rubber suit tore alittle at the elbows and ankles.

Smart***.:woot:

Seriously though, both the Hot Toys and Takara are getting scarcer and scarcer, and getting higher in the prices too.

I suppose he could get the Medicom Bats and just look for that one thread where that guy who had all three Batmans made the Medicom version look much with some extra stuffing, though the height and lack of accessories is probably the biggest issue with that one. Though I can gaurantee you that Medicom's version is probably the easiest and cheapest to come by today.

There's a good overview of the debate here: What's the best 12" Batman action figure out there?

But you make a good point regarding the 'stuffed' Medicom version, which looked much better than the original.

As I've said in the past, it's not easy to pick a clear winner, each is tops in one category or another. Having said that, I do think it comes down to the Takara and the Hot Toys and of these two the Takara gives me more of what I want. But if you just want something to put on the shelf, you can't beat the Mattel Action Cape Batman.

I'm kinda looking at the 6-8 inch range though. But that Takara one looks amazing.

I actually already posted my assessment over there, but thanks! :)

Agreed.

Same for me, only I'm with the HTs version, though if I could get the Takara version, throw away the suit it comes with and switch the HT suit, boots, cape and belt over to the Takara body(With some added bulking around the waist area), I'd probably have the best Batman Begins 1/6 figure ever. :woot:

Well... in that case:

My favorite right now is the DC Superheroes Series 3 Batman (Blue Cape), as far as traditional Batman goes.

But I really love my Kingdom Come and Gotham by Gaslight Batmen, too.

I would have to say the best NEWER Batman figure is the TRU exclusive two-pack version.

Received mine yesterday.... a bit disappointing really. I basically knew what I was in for, a rework of the DCSH Series 1 / Batsignal Batman, but to be honest the TRU version looks better in the box than out. Having said that, the TRU is better than the original(s)… but the TRU would be pretty far down the list if they ever came out with a Black&Gray retail version of the DCSH Series 3 Batman!

What do you guys think of this 5 pack?

On a side note, this bank looks amazing. Why can't a figure look like that?!

Hahaha my brother and I did a custom exactly like this one. That is DKR Superman's Body, with the DKR Batman head/cape ...i have one of those sitting in my room with my collection

Upon further review… the TRU has gone up in my estimation somewhat. It’s still not something I would consider “best”, but it does have a nice black and dark gray paint scheme and a better scaled military/leather styled belt and all-in-all it compares favorably with the Zip-Line Batman. If you already have the Zip-Line Batman then the TRU can only be considered a minor upgrade and I’m not entirely convinced it’s worth the money. Having said that, if you’re just starting a collection, which is to say that you have neither a Batman nor a Robin figure, the TRU set isn’t a bad a place to start, especially if you can pick it up at a local TRU for under $20.

But patience may be a virtue…

If you come across the newest release of Mattel DC Superheroes S3 Select Sculpt series in a store (or have one already), for example, the DCSH Knight Shadow Batman:

DCSHKnightShadow.jpg

... take a look at the back of the card. There in the upper left you will see an upcoming release (* June 2007) that appears to be a Black and Gray version of this DCSH S3 Batman:

Now it doesn’t appear to be available yet, but if it ever is released that Black and Gray version—with a military/leather styled belt—that'll be the one to get!

In other words, a $9.99 retail version this:

Interestingly… there also appears to be a Black and Gray 2-Up 12” version in the works:

... which is a similar reworking of the original 12" blue version.

UPDATE: 2007 DCSH Batman (Classic Black and Gray)

Is this the TRU exclusive two pack:
Umm, sort of... but the image is wrong (it's probably some kind of mock-up). The description and price are correct (but I'd have to check the Item# and SKU to be certain), and the cape—other than the red neck—is accurate… change the blue bits and red bits to black et viola.

The actual packaging looks like this:

TRUBR1.jpg

... and both Batman and Robin have a wash paint job rather than the straight up job you see in the TRU link.

One thing you should be aware of regarding the Robin figure… it says there are two versions: a Robin and a Nightwing. On the back of the box Nightwing is shown to be in his actual Nightwing custom but the figure that comes in the second set seems to be nothing more than a ‘blue’ repaint of the red Robin:

TRUBR2.jpg

BTW: Beware Amazon.com... they are selling this things for $50 and that's way, way overpriced!

How much did you get that at TRU?
