I know 'best year's' and 'best decades' for film have been discussed but I've put together a list for a vote of specific film years with key film releases as a guide (tried to give decade spread where I can) but 90's as a decade is a giver. So you are affectively being asked here, what is the best 'collective' year for film ever ? Please take into consideration, the quality overall of the year, not just because one year may contain your favourite film, full stop.

Leaving out the Year 1984 is... It's a HUGE oversight let's say. HUUUUUUUGE.

Just from a pop culture perspective it's kinda where the 80's begin as we remember them. And that's just the popular films. The prestige dramas, the cult films, the little gems, the indies... It's an incredibly influential year of film releases.

Good topic, this will be a hard one as I imagine many people have a different idea of what the biggest year was.

A lot of years have some absolute gems.

1962: Lawrence of Arabia, To Kill A Mockingbird, Dr. No

1975:
Jaws, Rocky Horror Picture Show, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

1979: Kramer vs. Kramer, Apocalypse Now, Alien

2001: Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and Monsters Inc.

1999: The Matrix, The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, The Green Mile, Office Space.

1997 (Gattaca, L.A. Confidential, Contact) and 2001 (Fellowship of the Ring, Training Day, Black Hawk Down, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within) are up there.

‘73 and ‘07 were pretty good.

Just felt mentioning them.
