Sound off below. I'll start with some obvious contenders:

Clash of the Titans (original)
Jason and the Argonauts

In alphabetical order:

Clash of the Titans (original)
Conan the Barbarian (original)
Dragonslayer
Excalibur
Jason and the Argonauts
King Kong (original)
Labyrinth
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
The Dark Crystal
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Magic Sword
The Neverending Story
The Princess Bride
The Sword and the Dragon

Also, MST3K riffed these films, but I've got a soft spot for them:

The Magic Sword
The Sword and the Dragon

There are many decent fantasy movies, but the best for me:

Conan the Barbarian (1982) - sword and sorcery.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy (theatrical) - high fantasy.

 Stamped in wax. I do wish Sword & Sorcery got more respect, but it seems for a fantasy film to succeed nowadays, it needs to go all out with gnomes and dwarves and dragons, i.e. "high fantasy."

I'd love to see Karl Edward Wagner's Kane and Michael Moorock's Elric brought to the screen, but I'm not holding my breath.

A film adaptation of Elfquest, with director Rawson Thurber attached, was planned, but it stalled and didn't get past the development stage.

I would love some kind of adaptation of The Volsunga Saga. And a live-action adaptation of Beowulf.

Absolutely. S&S has a special place in my heart. But I don't mind dragons and dwarves. I love fantasy in general. As long as the story is solid, I'm in. For example, I'm enjoying Game of Thrones great deal.

There's a number of books, that deserve an adaptation. Maybe with success of Game of Thrones and Witcher there's a chance (I heard they're cooking a Witcher movie, but it doesn't look like it's moving forward). But since mainstream is busy with comic book films, I doubt it will happen in near future.

I was such a huge fan of Elfquest books as a kid. It's among my most wanted adaptations.
