Who are these people voting for The Amazing Spider-man? Seriously?

What bothered me about the reboot is it felt like I had seen it all before. All the components were a notch better than previous films, but we had seen it all before. Peter is a nerd in school, then Peter bit by a radiocative spider, Peter showing off a little for the kids who previously picked on him, Peter developing a romance, Peter having an uncomfortable meal, Peter spending time with Uncle Ben and Aunt May, Uncle Ben dispensing sage advice but then being killed as a result of Peter not following his sage advice, Peter develops a relationship with a brilliant scientist, brilliant sientist experiments with things beyond his control and the experiment turns him inexplicably bad, Spider-man battles brilliant scientist, when Peter is having a rough time, citizens jump in to help, Peter reveals his idendity to far too many people. . .

If you're going to do a reboot, I think it should at least break some new ground. That film was like cinematic paint-by-numbers.

Well, Webb did tried to inject some of his own spin on the origin like the fact that Parker's own DNA was in fact mutated before being bitten by the spider, and tried to get closer to the source material with the mechanical webshooters and Gwen Stacy being Parker's first gf, not MJ. I think the problem is that despite some differences, people think they have seen it before in Raimi's version, so this reboot is going to get some heat for it no matter what. We'll see if the sequel will be better received, now that origin is out of the way.

I went with the Avengers, but had it only been Ghost Rider and ASM, I would have gone with Ghost Rider.

That whole aspect was dropped though, he's just bite by a spider and gets powers. No rehashing of Ang Lee's Hulk.

The problem I had with the movie, is they really didn't seem to get the character of Peter Parker all that well.

I am. I have just seen it for the second time and I vote again for ASM.

Seriously.

Bells and whistles aside, it is the better movie.

there is no competition, Avengers is so much better that the two others. ASM was very average with an atrocious characterisation of Peter Parker and ghost rider 2.... well, at least, you can say it improved from the previous one (it wasn't very difficult, that being said)...

The Amazing Spider-Man because the people in that movie like - Peter Parker, Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, Captain Stacy, Flash Thomson and Dr. Conners felt more real to me, that is - they were more believable to me than Nick fury, Maria Hill, Agent Coulson and other heroes.

Though TASM has some editing and pacing issues which Avengers has not still TASM is a better Marvel movie (IMO.)

The Avengers was entertaining. But it's a bit unfair, since it's essentially a bunch of movie franchises having a crossover. They didn't have to do much, just let the established characters from the previous movies interact.

The plot (what little there was) did nothing for me. The climax looked like something out of Transformers. Just with clever dialogue. And then the ending actually channelled the Phantom Menace.

Not that the Amazing Spider-man was a movie without problems, but I did enjoy it. Much more than I expected. And I'm glad we now have something other than the campy Raimi movies (which for the record, I don't hate, I just find them comically overrated).

LOL!

It's such an obvious choice.
Amazing Spider-man was just OK, and this last Ghost Rider movie could actually be the worst Marvel film of all time.
.

*coughs* Howard the Duck

It was Avengers, it HAD to be Avengers, best superhero movie of all time.

Though I don't like the effect its having on the comic book universe

Yeah I'm going to have to side with the majority in this case. I voted Avengers. I liked ASM, it's as good as any of the previous Spidey films. It may be the best Spidey film yet. But it still had some issues that hindered it. I don't think TA is the best superhero film ever(still IM1 for me) but it's easily in the top 3. I didn't watch GR: SOV.

I voted Avengers because I had a blast with that one from start to finish and the dialogue and character beats are just so sharp, but I completely understand people voting for The Amazing Spider-Man. That was one of the most emotionally involving and resonant superhero flicks I've seen. I actually got choked up at a couple points during it, which never happens to me with these types of movies.

Very good point.

The Avengers would be the best superhero movie of all time even if it wasn't a crossover... so... that one.

Agreed. Avengers captured the essence of the medium best of all comic films. It also had a naturally flowing story, mixed with good characters and amazing action. Granted, it's not the Seventh Seal, but it is one of the most fun experiences I have watching a film. Endlessly rewatchable. I just feel any of that with The Amazing Spider-Man. It's a decent movie with several glaring flaws. Ghost Rider 2 just sucks, but I do admit, I find it funny to make fun of.

The Avengers - 5/5
The Amazing Spider-Man - 3/5
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - 1.5/5 (I gave it a .5 for being entertainingly bad).

Avengers FTW! No movie comes close to its awesomeness! It will be hard for any movie to top it

This isn't even a fair fight, for me its easily the Avengers.

ASM was better than I expected it to be, but still didn't come close to Avengers in terms of.. well basically everything: Action, effects, cast and even story. We've seen the origin before, shame they didn't try to do something new with it. I have yet to see Ghost Rider 2, but hardly rushing to the nearest store to purchase it.

How did they not do something new with it?

The rewatchability factor for Avengers trounces Amazing Spider-Man 10 to 1.

And I LOVED Amazing Spider-Man.

The Avengers hands down!!! :yay: The Amazing-Spiderman was a very good movie but does not compare.

I found ASM about on par with XM:FC. Good and solid, just not great even though certain bits inside the films reached that level from time to time.

Avengers was above and beyond the better movie.. But it's kind of an unfair fight.. Marvel did something that was never done before.. Instead of just having a part 1 and a part 2.. They had five different part 1's, and one absolutly amazing part 2..

This times 10000

Avengers is a movie that will be talked about for years and years on how epic it was. Spider-man is probably going to be forgotten about starting on 7/20. And I liked TASM, it just wasn't as good as Spider-man 1.
