Apparently, they're releasing it in theaters next month overseas and releasing an extended version in Canada.


'BlackBerry' Is Being Turned into a TV Series | Exclaim!

BlackBerry is one of the stand-out Canadian films of the year so far, and now Matt Johnson's latest is being turned into an extended TV series on CBC.

Starring Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton, as well as Johnson himself, the BlackBerry TV show is made up of the same material as the film, with the addition of never-before-seen footage. While the film clocked in at almost exactly two hours, the series stretches that to three, which will air across three 60-minute episodes.

The series version of BlackBerry premieres on CBC in fall 2023.

Watched Blackberry on my flight to London a few weeks ago and I thought it was a solid movie. I thought it shared lots of similarities to Social Network

Movie also had its funny moments and it was kinda jarring to see Glenn Howerton play the CEO of Blackberry. Dude had his Dennis moments throughout the film

Haven’t seen it yet, but as an unapologetic Dennis Reynolds stan, it’s great seeing Howerton getting award buzz. I don’t have it in me to get invested in the idea of him actually getting an Oscar nom, but that would be quite something to see.

I saw a promo for that last night with Fear the Walking Dead and I was like “Wait… limited what now??”

I watched this today.

I liked it enough that I'm going to check out the 3-part AMC miniseries saved on my DVR but I wanted to see the movie first for context. Glenn Howerton stole the show but the rest of the cast did great too, and the editing was especially on point because those two hours flew by.

It'd be nice if this doesn't get totally ignored by the Academy but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'd give Howerton a Supporting Actor nod just for the scene where he goes full Dennis Reynolds in the boardroom.

I freaking love Glenn Howerton, and I had no idea this existed. I gotta check it out.
