I don't think we'll ever know exactly what happened but even if those contractors did do exactly what those witnesses claim it doesn't mean the entire organization is corrupt. A while back there was this news report about a group of soldiers who gang raped a fourteen year old Iraqi girl. That most certainly doesn't mean that all of our soldiers are rapists.
Out of the kagillion valid things to attack this administration over, you're going to go with that?
considering our tax money is going towards paying these guys 10 times more than their military counterparts, i'd say that's plenty of reason to be upset about them. this isn't the only instance of these guys flipping out. i've seen a video shot by blackwater of some of their members firing on random civilian vehicles on an iraq highway.
BTW Kritish-I live in Clarksville TN about 12 miles from Fort Campbell where all those soldiers were from. The guy who was the lookout in that case got a life sentence. They are still trying the others so its only a matter of time
my oldest brother lives there, too. he was stationed at fort campbell a few years ago but left the army and settled down there. no offense, but i hate that city. it's so depressing.
Well....it's not like anyone has any authority to stop them....It's in the wording of their contract..they are not beholden to the US or Iraqi government....not saying its right, just saying how it is
paul bremmer's last act, signing order 17 that allows blackwater and other government contractors to operate without be accountable to iraqi or even american law. way to go paul! i'm sure that's helping to win the hearts and minds of the iraqi citizens; watching american contractors kill their countrymen and then not being able to do a damn thing about it, despite having their government call for their removal.
