Superman Returns Blatant Foreshadowing In Novel Excerpt

But Lara knew as much as she prayed to Rao that one day she would cradle Kal-El’s own baby in her arms, tweaking its little nose, and gently pinching its soft, pillow cheeks, at some point in the next ten hours, when there was no longer any margin for error, she would wrap him securely in the brightly colored blanket she’d bought the previous month and kept boxed in the corner of the freshly painted bedroom next to theirs, then she would carefully tuck the blanket around him as she placed him gently into the crystal star they had kept hidden in a secret panel in their inner lab.

Crap.

Alright, what am I supposed to be seeing here ?

No, the medium really has no relevance to Matches' argument.

Anyway, i really don`t care `cause you and Oldguy always criticize this movie.
Assuming you are speaking to me, no, I do not criticize the movie. I can't, because I haven't seen it. What I do criticize are some of the choices that have been made in making it. That is a significant distinction. More importantly, I often speak highly of other aspects. That you choose to only recognize my criticisms is your failing, not mine.

False

I think you may be wrong about Matches, the only aspect I have seen him disagree with is 'the kid' aspect. And he is not trying to ruin anyones enjoyment, if you feel you are weak enough to let another poster influence your thoughts, then do as Matches said and put him on ignore

Could that be an error and the correct name was supposed to be Jor-El?

The Documentary review has some interesting insights on why Superman left without telling Lois. Its amazing and very touching, in my opinion.

"There could be any number of reasons why he didn`t tell you. Maybe he didn`t have the guts to tell you; maybe he didn`t have time, and had to leave right away. Or maybe he couldn`t face you, because he was afraid of what you`d say

The real clincher: Or maybe he was afraid that if he saw you one more time he wouldn`t be able to go"

Its an awesome line. I see as Superman going back to Krypton more important than staying because we`re talking about an race, some parts of the planet that could have survived. Superman sacrificed once more his personal feelings for greatness. How cant people understand that?

Spiderman alert. Its all well and good him going back to Krypton, but Superman would never just up and leave on a whim. There has to be a very solid reason

The people will understand that, but there's always that period of adjustment. For Lois, I can see her understanding completely and I think that's where the internal confict will come from. It's easy for her to hate him when he wasn't around and she didn't know the whole story, but now that he's back and has a reasonable explanation as to why he left so suddenly, it won't be as easy. I can't wait to see all this on screen. As much as I am a fan of the action, character development and their motivations is what really gets me going.

I don't think so. It's says "Kal-el's own baby". I don't see why she'd refer to the child as Jor-el's own, as if it weren't hers as well.

As a parent myself....I understand that perfectly. It's NOT "foreshadowing" of the plot....it's the normal reaction of a parent. As you cradle your child in your arms....you picture the wonderful future ahead for him....which includes their having your grandchildren that you can spoil as well. It's a normal thing for a parent to do.

Of course it's foreshadowing... it's patently attempting to establish a theme to the story.

It would be extremely naive to think that Wolfman didn't pen this without a mind to the major developments lying ahead.

Yeah. . . I noticed that when I re-read.

I don't get it. This isn't foreshadowing anything.

It's not like Lara has psychic abilities or anything. Plus, she's dead. She will not be holding anything in her arms or pinching any cheeks.

I think you're reading too much into this. (In best Gordon voice) "But I've been wrong before..."
