BLM Protests Across The World

If cops are disabling vehicles to stop or slow down criminals yes its okay. Criminals destroying property is a crime and is not okay. The cops slashing tires is no different from a cop throwing down a spike strip to stop a criminal.

They were slashing tires in a parking lot. Parked cars. How is that not different?

How do you know they are criminals? Why are you assuming they are criminals? Do most criminals park in a parking lot together?

Also how many protesters or rioters are in cars? They are on foot. If anything, they'd leave in their cars. It doesn't even make sense. It is just vindictive.

Cars we have seen at protest causing problems:

- Hawkeye's
- A large truck that the protesters stopped
- A lot of police cars

Under these circumstances blacking out the WH is not the right move in my opinion. It's gonna invite the stupid to press their luck.

Seattle's a madhouse.

The cops complaining the peaceful protesters won't leave, while they literally won't let them leave. Maybe, just maybe there is a problem with the police in America...

A strawman related to what? You're jumping into an argument that is hours old, taking my original points out of context, and trying to say I'm creating a strawman...related to what?

I see you waxing poetic about why violence is appropriate, but that doesn't explain how violence would solve this problem. I see how violence could happen and potentially help with defensive measures...sounds like you're advocating a stopgap defensive force. But I don't see how that would solve the actual problem at hand, which I'm told is systematic racism and issues with intolerant policing.

Unfortunately, when it comes to policing in North America, there is a deep seeded "us vs. them" mentality that can't just be broken by hiring more POC in policing positions, lest they fall victim to the mentality as well. It requires an overhaul of the system.

The violence is a natural reaction to the violence perpetrated by the police. We know that this happened before (the LA riots after Rodney King was beaten) and nothing changed. However, it is easier to organize protests in our world and information is easily disseminated so every POC that is beaten or killed by an officer is going to set off the protests. There will be a breaking point.

I'm a little bit more pessimistic about this because, especially in the US and it's fetish for guns, I see the breaking point being more police state and less de-arming of officers. I hope that that is not the case, but at any rate, it will change something. The violence will bring about a shift, whether for good or bad is yet to be seen.

Given I think we're pretty much all varying shades of liberal here, I wonder how much our discussion differs elsewhere.

I am not sure if this your current place of residence, or your hometown you may have moved from. But either way I hope you and yours are safe.
It’s in Western KY, one of the bigger counties. I appreciate the sentiment. News is reporting gunshots from several locations. Some good protestors attempted to stop the rioters at the mall. I’m honestly surprised, I was not expecting this at all.

The kid should have never been there but that is a huge mistake for a cop to do right now besides hitting protesters not even on the streets with rubber bullets. I've seen videos of protesters on side walks holding signs suddenly getting hit by cops with rubber bullets and batons
