BLM Protests Across The World

Excuse my ignorance on city level politics but if the city council has a veto proof majority can anyone really override the decision?
Oh I don't know either. I just can't see dismantling a police force ever happening

Wouldn't it make sense to just revamp the system instead of just tearing it down?

As he should. Especially since he has black grandchildren, last I remembered.

That person saying wow like it's a bad thing

It's getting real now. Even Trump can't deny it much longer.

I... uh... what...?

Well I don't want to "loose" anything like my life. Then again maybe I should listen to someone who knows the difference between "lose" and "loose" and does not sound like a stark raving mad conspiracy theory lunatic. :loco:

People have wanted that statue down for at least 30 years now. About time.

Oddly though, apparently a Lincoln statue was defaced in London for some reason.

Lincoln was known or rumored to have been racist and supported there being slaves or something like that

Pretty sure that was a posthumous smear attempt or revisionist history. Given the time and context he had to live in I think he was probably more progressive than given credit for. By todays standards? Defintely racist but you can't look at 150 years ago and then use modern metrics to make an argument for whether someone should be reviled or not.

Not that the cops give us much reason to trust them, either they are lying because they realized no one else is standing with them, or the union is using them as forceful props.

This is cracking me up. They’re reasoning out to not make them look bad but guess what? “We’re quitting because no one will defend us legally anymore when we decide to push and kick an elderly” is still... bad. :funny:

Especially as these jackasses were clapping their "brothers" at the courthouse.

Isn't that the argument for why super racist statues, like Lee's, should be left up? I think judging people of the past by modern standards should be the only way we judge them properly.

By the way, I am not comparing Lincoln and Lee, but the argument about judging people based simply on their time period.

My fear is if we remove racist related monuments that newer generations won't know about our history and how racist our country used to be and will be doomed to repeat some mistakes. Remember some schools were glossing over the Nazis and Hitler when teaching WW2 before Trump took office.

"Bad cops ruin policing."

Gotta love when the guy who has made it his life goal to instill police with this mentality (in at least one case doing so in subversion of the instructions of the city government on how police were to be trained) tries to entice them to kill by telling them how cops always tell him that they have the best sex of their lives after killing people.
