BLM Protests Across The World

Eh I don't think that means much. Stepin Fetchit was the first millionaire black actor. Which good for him, but you know he was called "Stepin Fetchit"
I know all about him, I watch many old movies....his scenes in movies are absolutely painful to watch. But I still think it is ironic that a moment in black history may have trouble being seen in the future due to this.

Considering GWTW came out in 39 it's a big achievement that Hattie Mcdaniel won the award. And she deserves the recognition of being the first black person and the first black woman to win an Oscar.
I mean I'm not saying she doesn't deserve the recognition or downplaying what she did at all. Same thing with Lincoln Perry. Became a millionaire in the 1930s as a black person. Thats crazy
But the GWTW or Fetchit step is still not the greatest when it comes to race. Even if the Perry and McDaniel were successful. I've seen a few conservatives, not on here, try to use "But she won an Oscar" as a defense for GWTW. It's like hiding behind the "We have a black person as the head of a department so we're not racist"

It's not gonna have trouble being seen. How is it?

HBOMax may bring it back in the future....but there will be many people who will refuse to watch it now (on Max and other movie venues).

I actually think the opposite in curiosity factor. Those who weren’t gonna watch it at this point, were never going to watch it anyway.

They say they're bringing it back and just adding the disclaimer. And why will people refuse to watch it now more than before? I don't see any evidence that this is gonna covert a significant number of people from "Oh boy I wanna see Gone With the Wind" to "Oh no, now I'm not gonna watch it"

It'll be fine. This is the most the movie has been talked about in years and many people now will actually watch it to see what it's about.

Gone With The Wind will be fine. It'll be on HBO Max, you can still buy or rent it, this is the most press and eyes on it that it's gotten in years

It really isn't a thing at all.

Exactly. It's fine.
It really isn't that big of a story until people made it. They're not wiping it from history or stop selling it anywhere or stripping it of its Oscars.

This is the biggest discussion the movie has gotten in years and it's really for a non story.

You know what's funny? I literally had it on my watchlist on HBO Max before it was taken off. It's one of those movies that I haven't seen but I'll get around to (also on my list: Casablanca and 2001). But Gone With The Wind is Four. Hours. Long. Who has the time for that? Even in quarantine!? :o

You really see how people are when it comes to racism and sexism. And that goes for all sides.

Performative, given the reports I've heard about their corporate culture.
Exactly what is happening. Easier to ban some questionable cards then actually do something about the actual structural issues.

So... My collections with those cards just became more valuable on the traders market?

Dollar, dollar bills ya'll!

High fives! (Waits vainly for response.)
