BLM Protests Across The World

I completely agree that there needs to be a complete rethinking of law enforcement. That being said, this isn't a short term process that should be done haphazardly and only time will give us the information we need. For example, neighbor disputes.....who do you send to mitigate that? What if someone pulls out a gun because they're pissed off? This is going to be a nuanced process and we have to be very, very careful about how we proceed. I have no doubt that we can do this more efficiently, with less deaths, and have more support within our communities, but we are going to need a lot of input, address a lot of concerns, and understand that this is going to be an endless process.

EDIT: I don't want to see someone show up at a scene that has been misjudged and pay for it with their life. I don't want to see someone show up at a scene, misjudge the situation, and have it cost the life of someone who is on the scene.

So a Seattle citizen named Brandon is being interviewed by the Daily Caller and saying he felt unsafe in Seattle and there needs to be order and wants the protests to end.

I know a police station got burned but I thought that happened Monday and it was better since then...?

He claimed protestors would bang on his doors and disrupt his neighborhood at night. Fox News played a clip of the interview. The man has his face blurred and he starts to cry.

If convicted he'll probably face a civil lawsuit as well so Floyd's family could end up getting his $1 million pension.

Or ya know the state and justice system could do the right thing and make it law that if a cop murders a civilian and is convicted their pension is automatically given to the next of kin of the victim. Cops might think twice if using their gun or violence wrongfully even once could cost them their pensions.

I guess everyone’s experience is different. For me it’s been absolutely no danger here except for the initial nights of violence and looting, the majority of which has disappeared here. The CHAZ is super peaceful chill area so far, no clue how that will play out. There was a large silent peaceful protest march through some neighboring streets as well.

The guy was probably just being dramatic and exaggerating

It's The Daily Caller. It might have literally just been Tucker.

The CHAZ situation is going to create it's peculiar issues but to hear about it in the Reactionary sphere you'd think it was Somalia in the 1990's there when the reality is so far removed from that it's ludicrous.

I was gonna say that, but I'd change it to "he'll face a civil lawsuit one way or the other. The bar in a civil lawsuit is much easier to clear.

Has this happened in some of the other previous cases?

OJ Simpson.

The bar in a criminal case is guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The bar in a civil case is the preponderance of evidence. A much lower bar.... @DKDetective can confirm :cwink:.

I'd tell you about the only bar my attorney friend has ever passed, but you've all heard that one before.

Yes the laws are similar for civil and criminal courts here. That’s good to know at least.

So Trump called protestors anarchists... Yep he definitely picked a side.

He picked the only side that is interested in seeing him re-elected, hate filled bigots.

Trumps entire political platform is built off creating division. Trump isn't capable of unifying a diverse group of people or building anything worthwhile for the future (like his ****** wall) ;)
