Whether this was written in an insane yet genuine manner, in other words if this writer actually believes this, or if it was a cynical ploy knowing the prevalence of magical thinking among cultural conservatives and Evangelicals, it begs one more time the question of how we as a society can seriously deal with this part of our population? Because for real, how can I not just dismiss out of hand as someone totally detached from reality when in order to justify anything your go to arrow in your quiver is "mystical occult powers are real"?
