Horror Blumhouse and James Wan to bring us M3gan

oh and I have to say Jenna Davis was awesome as her voice she could portray friendly and menacing so well she is talented and I hope they bring her back for any sequel they make of this

Looks like it is hitting $30 million for opening weekend. I suspected the total would go up over the weekend. With a $12 million budget, going to have a nice profit.

Enjoyable funnier than I expected but wished it was more brutal they really put all the good stuff in trailer.

debating on going to see this or not haha. I don't know why, but I have a feeling I won't like it as much as other people have, but maybe i'll be proven wrong.

I'm working on writing my review for this but I thought it was just okay. You can see all the parts where they edited this down to a PG-13. Shame.

What do you reckon the odds are of them releasing an R-rated/Unrated cut for the Blu-ray/digital release?

Your thoughts on this movie will probably end up being the deciding factor for me haha. Now I'm more likely gonna wait until it hits streaming.

Has it been confirmed that it was cut down from an R, or that it was always shot as a PG-13?

It was supposed to be R but they cut it down to PG-13 because that trailer of her dancing went viral on TikTok.

M3GAN viewers confused by unusual age rating
It’s now been revealed that the film, which is PG-13 in the US , was originally designed to be more graphic, but had some gory content erased in an attempt to lure in a younger audience – a tactic that has paid off.

Speaking about this in an interview was screenwriter Akela Cooper, who told LA Times: “No shade to Universal, love them... I understand that once the trailer went viral, teenagers got involved and you want them to be able to see it.

“There should be an unrated version at some point. I heard it is on the books. But yes, it was way gorier. Her body count in the script was higher than in the movie.”

This decision has divided fans, with some complaining that they were denied what they claim would have been a better cinemagoing experience.

You would think that after how ape**** kids went over Pennywise and Michael Myers that they wouldn't even think twice about putting an R-rated horror movie out there. Kids are still gonna find a way to see it anyway.

I guess they wanted paying kids to see it, not sneaking in non paying kids lol

Curious now that it’s such a big hit if for the sequel now they’ll push just to aim for a PG-13 right away.

It's not the same comparison, but Venom 2 didn't go for an R rating despite introducing Carnage of all people. It probably could've, though Serkis said that was never in the cards. Still, would Blumhouse go for an R rating when they see that PG-13 could still work for them?

I loved this movie. I think PG 13 was fine for the movie. I don't think gore would have added too much to the kills and possibly kills that would have happened in the R version. The Megan performer was great. Some great movements used.

I look forward to seeing her in the new Blumhouse opening credit.

I was not as enamored by this as I was expecting. Didn't think the balance between goofy and straight was done well enough. I was a little surprised by how played straight this was. The goofy moments feel out of place, despite being quite funny. You can tell where things were cut down for the rating, but I didn't think it was much of an issue.

On the whole, definitely a decent time at the theater. Saw it with a full crowd who all enjoyed it. Comparing it to 2019 Child's Play feels pretty apt, I think they're on like the same tier.
