Any books that are about witches, magic and spells in the modern age?

I'm looking for recommendations for a new book to read.

It has to be a series or book that has it's own universe of characters I can connect with, and has fantastical elements.

My preferences are more for young adult, fantasy and paranormal.

I am not even finished with it yet but I would highly recommend Glen Weldon's book THE CAPED CRUSADE about Batman and the rise of nerd culture.

I think for anyone with even passing interest in either subject that you could do far worse than crack open this book, ESPECIALLY if you are yourself a card carrying member of the nerd tribe. It mirrors some of my own feelings about the culture of fandom for super heroes these days, good, bad and ugly. It should be out soon, but it's for sure a well thought out book.
