Hey everybody
Here's my self deprecating art thread.
Comments and (helpful) Critiques are always welcome

First up, a few Instagram doodles:

Didn't realize we couldn't post instagram pics, so over the weekend I'll figure out how to get pics up instead of links
Graphic designer and I can't figure out how to post pictures on a simple forum... good job, me!

anyways, Enjoy :woot:

It's pretty simple you just have to host the images on a site like photobucket .

Nice stuff. I feel like graphic design is an underrated skill when it comes to comic art. When you break it down, a lot of comic art is just graphic design. Mapping out form and shape, colors, positive/negative space into something that works as a cohesive and engaging composition within a panel or panel to panel.

Yeah, composition is huge, it's one of the things I'm really trying to work on in my framing.
it's easy to just draw a figure on the page, but to create something dynamic is the difficulty

Think I finally got this, gunna be posting a lot more!:

It is great. I love the Captain America one.

thanks, that's probably the oldest one I've posted, but I put a ton of time into it
F' those scales man, seriously

You have to learn to SUGGEST the scales.
When I was copying artists, George Perez was who I first learned to do that with.
Hal Foster, Frank Frazetta both were AMAZING at it in their ink work.

You'll get there bud. I did a Viking Captain America that has suggested plate armor on the last page of my art thread if you want to look

Yeah I hear what your sayin', and I can pull off the suggested thing pretty well now
Even at the time, I knew I didn't have to do all of em, but I was going for kind of a painted feel crossed with the comic style, so I wanted to get the detail in there

If I were to do it now, I'd approach it much differently, but I still dig how it came out

and thanks b-man!

Yeah I did that with a drawing or two myself, just because I wanted to make as detailed as I could.

This seemed to disappear for some reason so I'm bumping it

I'll have a couple new drawings up soon that I'm pretty dang happy with

It's not comic art, but one form my art takes is lyrics and music, and I decided I wanted to share this song with y'all and get some (hopefully respectful) feedback. I wrote this after the Paris shooting, and yet it stays relevant because of the violent species we are:

Another day, another death
Another round of baited breath
Waiting for congress to act
While bracing for the next attack
Lobby money clouds their heads
Their talking points say 'f**k the dead'!
Theres too much money to be made
And new consumers everyday

So next in line, step right up
The next to die, the next to die
And next in line can cock the gun
Cuz next time you won't bat an eye!

Well god forbid they lose a cent
There's revenue in every death
The bottom line is six feet down
And autopsies are disallowed
Go from red to in the black
More profit from each new attack
Dont block the path from here to rich
Theyll shoot and leave you in a ditch

So next in line, step right up
The next to die, the next to die
And next in line can drop the gun
Cuz next time you won't bat an eye!

They let kids die while they protect
The ***holes who their cash elects
Got no remorse and no respect
For motivations that are so suspect
The congressmen who genuflect
To lobbyists who cut the check
Who push for all that we reject
Should f**k right off and join the dead!

very strong lyrics there

this part is my favorite:
Well god forbid they lose a cent
There's revenue in every death
The bottom line is six feet down

hey thanks!
I write a lot of lyrics, but was pretty proud of these, despite their inflammatory nature

Hey! If anyone's reading!!

If anybody would like a free custom nerdy-tattoo design, just PM me!
