I like Martyr, myself. I love that Phyla's fallen to the point where she's virtually as much of a screw-up as Genis was back in the day. I wish Genis were still alive so DnA could use him to highlight that fact.

If they did that...then it might make up for her suckiness.

The way she is now, she might as well give up the lesbo thing and start bumping uglies with Wrath...then they could slit each others wrists.

She hasn't been emo, though. She's just been mind-bogglingly angry for no reason. I'll take psycho royal kidnapper over brooding emo chick any day. She works for me as yet another fly in the ointment for the Guardians, whose ointment seems to be about 90% fly all the time. They've got that charming surviving-by-the-skin-of-their-teeth aspect to them, which I love, and the more things go wrong for them, the better it gets. Phyla's now something that can and frequently does go wrong for them, so she's contributing to the Murphy's Law-inspired fun.

I'm kind of hoping Black Bolt whispers her head into a million pieces.

You're right though, unnecessarily angry is a better way of putting it, not so much emo.

I am liking Phyla more as Martyr than as Quasar. She doesn't quite work as the female lead, as ANNIHILATION CONQUEST sort of showed, but as a cog in a very large team book (it has some 13-14 regular characters), she is fine.

I'm indifferant. Kill her, keep her. I don't care. Just let Bug stay on the team!

And I'd love to have seen Warlock (Phalanx) join the team but I guess he's going over to New Mutants soon so I guess that's out.

Warlock is going back to the New Mutants? Ugh. Talk about a downgrade of potential. Everything old is new again. Only it's not; it's still old.

And yeah, Bug > Phyla.

What comic are you guys talking about that is featuring Bug?

He was one of my favorite Micronauts... :o

:yay:

Truth be told my only requirements to keep enjoying Guardians of the Galaxy is: Rocket Raccoon, Bug, and Quill must be on the team at all times.

Although I'm really liking Jack Flag so far on the team as well.

My list would be similar, only with Drax and Mantis included. And yeah, Jack Flag has fit into the cast really well. He seemed "random" but he brings in that outsider perspective.

I want everyone to stay. I haven't had a problem with the team having so many members, so why not keep them all on?

Although, if I had to pare it down, I guess I'd want Star-Lord, Adam Warlock, Bug, Mantis, Rocket, and Drax to stick around as an absolute minimum.

I'd have that and Groot. I just really like Groot for some reason.

He was written better in the Giffen Star Lord mini.

I just wish they would evolve him beyond "I AM GROOT!" since he very much had more lines than that during Giffin's run.

Yeah, I almost included Groot on my list, but then I remembered that DnA have literally only had him say "I am Groot" over and over and over. Including him is a bit of a waste if that's all they're going to use him for.

"I AM GROOT" has beyond gotten old. It's a bit that is so old, the LIGHT from "old" passed it 100 years ago. He was able to talk a lot more under Giffen's mini, and considering how well they have taken his Star-Lord stuff, it is almost irritating that with Groot they get it so wrong. He's not a major character or anything, but his routine has gotten tiresome. All I can guess is that maybe his new body is ******ed or something.

I still smile and laugh everytime all Groot says is "I AM GROOT."

I dunno, I really have had no exposure to the character outside of what DnA have done with the character so to me I really don't know of previous interpretations of the character.

That's what I'm wonder, I'm kind of hoping they'll explain it at some point. Maybe burning the spire down stunted him mentally and it'll take time to regain his previous vocabulary or something like that.

That would be my "No Prize" answer.

Does Marvel even still give out "No Prizes"? Granted, that was back during the letters pages era, and most books don't bother with those anymore (considering email makes that stuff easier to send).

Read the Annihilation Conquest: Star-Lord mini-series and you'll understand. Hell, read it anyway because it's fantastic.

Let's bold this recommendation.

Even if maybe you didn't like the Conquest story, get the Star Lord mini anyways, it was absolutely phenominal.

Yep. Easily the high point of the whole event (even better than Warlock's return in Nova's comic).

I miss that Captain Universe guy that was in the Star Lord story. He was a pretty cool character.
