Yeah, he is. He's only doing this Marvel work as part of the Marvel/TC agreement, which has specifications that keep him from doing anything other than miniseries or single issues (as I understand it).

Superman Prime: I haven't been keeping up with Titans...why does Risk look like a dude in his 30's now?

I'm guessing this arc takes place further along a bit more than the other titles.Loeb said he was giving Samson a haircut for the new Hulk series so Deodato or Ellis just probably decided to run with that.

Ok, so you did like the cover, then. That was pretty much the only part of the book that I saw and I thought it was great.

Blue Beetle & Superboy Prime One-Shot were the highlights of the week for me. Sinestro Corps is definetly a succesful crossover - something DC have really needed in their schedual.

Man, the Blue Beetle worship is weird. It's a good book, but it's not like it's giving you something that you can't get anywhere else.

Ya know, I just finished reading all my DC comics for the week, and the only one I didn't like was Superman, and that was because I don't like the idea of another kryptonian.

Everything else though was pretty top notch. Blue Beetle was amazing as always, as was GLC, the Superman Prime one-shot was all kinds of good, and actually made me feel for that character. Teen Titans was a bit sloppy, but was still better than some of the other crap that's come out of it lately. Gotham Underground got a second reading by me in a day, and reading it through a second time makes it all that much better. I'm actually enjoying the Bizzaro world storyline going on in Action, despite having to sometimes rattle my brains as to what the **** they're saying ("Me am bizzaro for you!" What the hell?). Robin was a good set-up/filler issue, and I'm waiting on this Ras Al Ghoul story they're throwing at us. Countdown had one of it's better weeks, with Jason totally 'un-redeeming' his good traits by blasting Donna, and totally gutting that one dude. That page seemed so real to me. The good guys AND the bad guys all stood there shocked that someone would actually kill the other one instead of just injure them or something.

It was overall a rahter good week for DC imo, as opposed to a "meh" week

What If? Planet Hulk

The first half of this story really stunk. I know they didn't have a lot of pages and all to tell the story but come on. Reed Richards gets stabbed? Huh? The heroes fall like bowling pins and then it takes them 21 years to build a freaking stone statue? What happened? Did they go on strike for a decade or something? Then she becomes stone on the statue and dies. That's it. The end.

1/5 because the art wasn't all that bad.

The second half on the other hand was different. I thought it was a pretty fun and lighthearted story. I genuinely enjoyed it and the last few pages were particularly uplifting. That was one of the best What If's I've ever read.

Daredevil #101

So Matt's life's gone to hell. What else is new?

This book is amazing. What else is new?

Well, the Hood is going to be showing up. Ironically, I'm more excited at the prospect of the Hood becoming a baddie in Daredevil than I am about him in New Avengers.

Green Lantern Corps #17

The Corps arrive on Earth where the crucial battle of the war is being waged. Along the way, Natu finally rejoins the rest of the corps, Guy makes a brief cameo on his way to get a painting and Yat becomes Ion, just in time to tackle Superboy Prime. Oh and Kilowag puts Arkillo down with an aircraft carrier.

Good writing, great action, what's not to love?

Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman Prime

The fight in this issue is really, really, ****ing good. I mean that. Basically, Prime shows up outside Bart's statue and vandalizes it only to be faced with a massive collection of superheroes, ranging from Krypto to Booster Gold to the Flashes. They're all here.

Early on they determine that Superboy's been using his collector to store solar radiation to make up for the fact that his powers haven't kicked in yet because of his trip through the red son back in Infinite Crisis; much as it took a Superman a year before he was good to go again.

The only difference is Prime, come dawn is back to 100% so they basically engage in a running battle trying to put him down before he can absorb those yellow rays. Along the way someone loses an arm.

Eventually, as the battle begins to turn in Prime's favor, the Superman family joins the battle and it looks like they're actually going to win when the sun finally rises and everything changes.

I can't get the quirky sense of humor anywhere else, except maybe in a Simone book, most of which I also read. Jaime's a superhero who's been to space and traveled through time, but his ultimate power fantasy is to be a dentist and make six figures. S'funny!

That was probably the best few panels I've read since the last time he tore through all those teen titans. It was just awesome that the dude actually thought he could stand up to this guy alone, after calling something like "YOU RIPPED MY ARM OFF LAST TIME, YOURE GOING TO PAY!". Then SBP just rips his other arm off and throws the dude. Wonder if we're ever gonna see Risk again?

The thing with Blue Beetle is I don't think many people expected it to be this good. I mean, it's Ted Kord they had to follow up, so I'm sure a lot of readers had some doubt. I mean hell, the first arc or two alone dragged on forever, but now it's hitting it's stride and it's just gonna run it out for as long as it can.

They also pay tribute to the legacy while still making the newbie unique and interesting in his own right, which is a balance DC hasn't managed to strike this well in a while.

I did think that was what PJ was comparing Blue Beetle to, but I haven't been reading Invincible so I can't compare them.

It's funny, but the book with the best sense of humor, in my opinion, stars a different Jaime. PAD's X-Factor is the only book that I get a genuine laugh out of with nearly every issue.

In your opinion, sure. Not in mine, though.

You don't follow Invincible on a monthly basis, do you?

I did think that was what PJ was comparing Blue Beetle to, but I haven't been reading Invincible so I can't compare them.

When it comes to colorful, fun superheroics, Invincible has got every other book beat. Some of Kirkman's other work may be a little iffy, but that's the one book that he gets right with each and every issue.

Ultimate Spider-Man #115: This title is finally back on track. Kitty Pryde works so well in Peter Parker's life, it's a shame that Bendis so underutilized her when they were dating. She's the Black Cat that we remember in the 616, before Peter married MJ. What's best is that Bendis' dialogue has finally found an artist that knows how to work well with him and deliver action scenes. This issue was good from page 1 to the end. Maybe where Bendis goes wrong is when he's given too many characters. It didn't work with the Clone Saga, and it sure doesn't work with New Avengers. 9/10

Moon Knight #13: Hands down, the best issue of Moon Knight in all 13 issues. It might not have the fancy art; but, it delivers a double-sized issue that focuses on the character of Marc Spector and a few members of is supporting cast well. This time, we get an actual tie-in to The Initiative, as Marc tries to get registered. Sometimes things get a little confusing...but, when compared to the first twelve issues, this comes across as genius. If you like the style of writing in Daredevil and Alias, then this follows it very closely. 8/10

Thunderbolts #117: There is a telling moment in this issue that speaks volumes for the current direction of Thunderbolts. Doc Samson is trying to councel Robbie Baldwin (Speedball), and he says, "The first time I met you, you still went by Speedball....I remember you were laughing. And, I asked you what was so funny. It was one of those things where, you know, Galactus had come to make us all into socks or something, and you were laughing. And you said to me, 'Doc, I try to find the fun in everything. Otherwise, why even bother?'" That's the thing; Thunderbolts isn't fun anymore. Everything about this book just rings untrue. The characters, from Norman Osborn to Doc Samson, just don't act in the way we've seen them in the past. Just like with the characters in this book, everything is unstable. A new direction for this book is inevitable, though..there is always hope. 5/10

Foolkiller #1: I never read the first 10-issue Foolkiller series; although, I do own it. I can't figure it's as brutal as this one. The series definitely fits into the Max line...and, I found it more violent and harder to read than Punisher or Terror, Inc.. Maybe that's because I really hate when the violence gets directed towards children. But, that seems to be an easy direction to make the reader hate the villian. Since, Death Wish, if you show a man's family being killed or raped, it makes them more sympathetic to the anti-hero vigilante. This is a good first issue...but, it did make me feel a little filthy after reading it. Other's would probably give it a higher rating; but, I am being biased towards it's showing of brutality for brutalities sake. 7/10
