The Omen made only $12,5m opening day.

'Only' 12.5 million? That's a damn good pull for a movie on a Tuesday, and if that number is true, it will be #1 for all time on a Tuesday.

Nah, I think SR is going to make a new record with opening night on Tuesday.

But I didn't mind about this, so it is high numbers.

SR's opening on a Wednesday, so the only record it will try and shoot for is Spidey 2's 40+, which will be a tough one unless it has midnight showings, does it?.

Ah interesting, CountingDown.com had it opening on the 28th. I am going to have to seriously consider trying to get into a showing if my local theater is doing this! :D

Still won't beat The Omen if they will only have 1 showing time that can be counted for Tues.

Well, the official date is June 28th, but it will be released in theatres at night of 27th.

It will not beat Omen, but i think it will make some opening nigh record.

Don't think there is an 'opening night' record, just daily. If you are talking about Wednesday in general, 40 million will be hard to beat.

Yep. think SR can make enough good $30-35m on Wed. ;)

DVC and X3 gave this year a push but the later's weak legs haven't helped much. Luckily Cars is coming out.

Wait for today's numbers before drawing any conclusions. Animated movies usually have massive Saturdays. It could still make up to $70 million over the weekend.

Fox is the real winner this year

X3 is number 1 Ice age 2 is number 2 both are clearly going to be very profiatble and the Omen only cost a measly 25 Million to make so it has already made itself pofitable.

I hope this means more money for FF2 and Wolverine down the line.

Well, I'd say that this is just a good start for Cars, not bad and not great.

Fox released a lot of movie blockbusters this year.

But I thought with $100m opening X3 would make $250m, so I still dont think it has good legs.

Does anyone know the budget for Cars?

Cars did ok, it wasnt the juggernaut some thought it would be but it's still a pretty good number.

It had a good opening weekend. And considering that it's an animated family movie, it's going to have great legs and have low dropoffs in the subsequent weekends.

Unlike crappy comic book movies like Elektra.
