It also went head to head with the biggest film of the last......well, biggest film since LOTR:ROTK. It's GOING to hit 1 Billion plus.

POTC2 wasn't the only reason SR underperformed, but it seriously cut out any momentum SR had going into it's 2nd week and beyond. I'd say a good 15-20 Mill was lost going up against POTC2 head to head. Easy.

That, and DWP really surprised.

This weekend's fall for SR was most interesting, just 8%, probabily because of IMAX showings. It still has a small chance of reaching $200M. One thing I don't get, the movie should be in a lot more theatres, considering its PT average. Its bigger than "Pirates"' for example.

Considering its cost and r-rating, it performed very well, and sold well on DVD too. It´s a very profitable movie.

As for Superman, I´m thinking that, the media still comes up with the "most popular superhero", but the truth is, Superman hasn´t been the most popular superhero in quite some time. Even back to the first movies, if you adjust by inflation the first Superman still made less than the first Batman or the first Spider-Man in US. Superman TAS had its ass kicked by Spider-Man TAS on the ratings every week, even though in many aspects it was a better show. Too bad SR cost so much cuz, if you look at the BO by itself, it´s far from being terrible.

That insistence on fights shows how many fanboys don´t get a fundamental thing about Superman: he´s not the badass who crazy to kick everybody´s ass, he´s a savior, a guardian, he´s more about saving lives than anything else, as someone once said, "Batman fights crime, Superman saves lives".

Well SR's budget is 205million. Its made so far:: $368,559,823

Now the company only takes in about half of that, so minus 50percent of that number:

And you've got about 180. Now considering the film is pretty much done... except for Italy,Greece and Switzerland. So they need about 25million, but we also have to figure out how much the distrubition was... Lets say 100million. So were looking at 125...

So deffinetly not great for the company, but we have to remember dvd sales: The Studio take 50 to 60 percent on all dvd sales, now a dvd they can make for 5 or 6 bucks sold at 20, isnt to bad...

So in other words this film will imo turn a profit(thought it in no way will be as good as they hoped.)

I hope we get a sequel, with Bryan Singer coming back.
I have to agree with Terry, Lex wasnt the best villain to choose agian. But I think a sequel will be more successful, because I think dvd sales will be good and people will figure out how good this film was. I think Bryan needs more action and a cooler villian and we could have a very successful Superman film.
