If the Senator becomes incapacitated than Republicans will regain control of the Senate and with that, pretty much control Congress again (as Senate for the most part sets the agenda and is the power house).

I'd hope the Governor of South Dakota (a Republican) will respect how his people voted and appoint a Democrat should something happen to Senator Johnson...but I really doubt he would.

Well this is certainly s**ty.

MOTHERF**KER!!!!

Since when do they care about the people

Well, unless he actually dies, I don't think they can actually force him out of office. Hopefully he doesn't die.

It was a stroke, I doubt foul play was involved.

Well, they should. The people of South Dakota elected a Democrat and he should respect that.

Correction, "stroke-like symptoms." I bet the GOP saw Casino Royale and got inspired.

I agree 100% but unforunately that isn't the case. :csad:

The Democrats need to pull off a Weekend at Bernie's if he doesn't pull through.

Would you say that if the tables were turned the other way?? No. You'd say, "Hey, tough luck GOP" But now that it seems to be working in the GOP's favor, you're cryin' the blues.

It's the system. It works. The system worked in November....(you were happy then) it's working now. If the Dems had won more seats, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Right? :yay:

Aw, how cute, a new smug right-winger to replace the old ones that keep getting banned.

Smug? It's just the truth.

Would you care if the tables were turned? Be honest.:yay:

Hmm, you have to ask yourself if a democrat would extend the same "courtesy" to the voters in the reverse situation. The answer is most certainly NO. But you'd be okay with that, right? Just asking.

They? Who's they? Are you saying that "they" are republicans and, therefore, by default, they, all republicans, don't care about people?

Just curious.

I'd say "Neato", then get on with my life.

I wish voting were cost-effective enough by now that we could just fire off a new runoff election in the state to decide the replacement.

Not really. I don't like to see people abuse their powers. If people want democrat then thats what they should get! In 2004 I was pretty upset when republicans took over but if thats what people want then what can I say?

How do you figure?
