Paramount Pictures has set Jonah Nolan to write Interstellar, a space adventure that has Steven Spielberg attached to direct, reports Variety. The drama revolves around explorers who travel through a worm hole and into another dimension.

The plot was informed by a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, a Caltech physicist and expert on relativity. His theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel intrigued Spielberg, who attended a Caltech workshop on the subject with Thorne and other scientists.

Nolan, who hatched the short story that became his brother Chris Nolan's breakthrough film Memento, most recently scripted The Prestige and The Dark Knight. The writer will start scripting Interstellar as soon as he delivers The Chicago Fire for Warner Bros.

Spielberg is prepping the fourth installment of "Indiana Jones" for a June start with Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett, and he is expected to follow with a film about Abraham Lincoln (Liam Neeson) and the Civil War, based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin book.

I thought there was a thread on this movie but i searched and found nothing except it mixed in as a brief mention in threads about Indy 4 and JP4

Anyway this great news,i love Nolan's work:up:

I smell another Spielberg sci-fi classic!

Jonathon is getting a lot of work lately, The Prestige was a great script so this gives me even more faith in his TDK

great writer, great director... i'm so there

Oooh, sounds promising. Nolan + Spielberg = guaranteed awesomeness.

What the heck are worm holes... didn't scientists recently disprove the theory that black holes are actual holes in space... meaning that if you travel into the black hole you won't end up in another galaxy or something... so if a Black hole can't even rip a hole in space what the heck can

Not exactly an original concept for a movie but with those two attached it should be good.

Jonah Nolan rules, Spielberg rules, space travel rules

=this will probably rule

Sounds very interesting, i'm going to have to check this out!

since John Nolan's writing and Spielberg's directing, i say Spielberg should reunite with an ol' buddy of his...

...BALE DAMMiT!!!

This will be great.
Nolan writing and Spielberg directing makes me feel good.

This is going to be added on to my most anticipated movie list!!!

"Interstellar" Lining Up As Spielberg's Next?

By Garth Franklin

A change of representation for "The Dark Knight" and "The Prestige" co-writer Jonathan Nolan is being interpreted as a signal as to what Steven Spielberg will choose as his next project.
Vulture reports that Nolan has spent over two years working on the script for "Interstellar", a sci-fi feature originally penned by physicist Kip Thorne. Spielberg has long been attached to direct the film.
With Nolan changing agents, its been seen as a move that could make the project Spielberg's first directorial effort since directing the motion capture sessions for "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" in early 2009.

That Vulture article that Dark Horizon is reporting is just based on guesses. Even if Nolan moved to a different agency to work for Speilberg, the 'bearded' one has been so 'wishy washy' with his next project since completing work on Tin-Tin.

If he's smart, and he is, I would say he SHOULD go with Interstellar because Nolan is so hot right now.

It looks like Jonah's looking at directing this now:

Towards the end of the night I got to speak with Jonathan Nolan. While we spoke a lot about his hit CBS show Person of Interest, I asked about the status of his sci-fi movie Interstellar. He said he’s still developing it and hopes to be behind the camera soon. He also said he’s working on some other features but wouldn’t get specific.

Was really looking forward to Spielberg/Nolan combo...

Uh oh, here comes the other Nolan Bro on the rise.
