In order for it to be a cult it would have to be exclusivist, i.e. require very strict and identifiable traits and requirements for their members. Christians can "self determine" whereas a cult member cannot. If I say I am a Christian such as Thomas Jefferson, Jerry Falwell and Joseph Smith have all claimed (despite being incredibly dissimilar) to be Christians, we would all be considered Christians and yet do not share the same beliefs, habits or customs, as would not be the case in a cult.
Christianity also does not cloister itself away from the world or make itself a subculture or pocket culture like a cult does. Christians very much interact with and even have influence (significant influence) on mainstream society.
Christianity is also unlike a cult because it is not "life altering". It doesn't remove one from participating in any activities.
Look, I'm not going to try to take anyone's side. But I will say one thing. Jesus Christ was a pacifist and if you truly embrace his message you will let it go. Don't insult the nation of Mexico when it's really unnescessary. Don't curse or shout because they have a different view. Just let it go.
That is all.

When you learn how to structure complete and coherent sentences from that "damned" language, then you can lecture us about it.
t:Voice of reason...when someone talks down to you, continues to argue by not seeing your bolded point, and calls you names...why is bad to fight back? To add to all of that, it is over, Sparkle was right on some issues and I am right on some issues...he and I just don't see eye to eye and we butt heads quiet often. Plus, it's not your place to hurl comments when not needed. It's 4 points in one easy to under stand message and I am talking to you. You were the one who decided to hurl out insults when not needed.

Well, I'm just pointing out that you're a hypocrite.

remind me when I spoke against your country. I forgot.remind me when I spoke against your country. I forgot.
Not all Christians believe that. Nor do Catholics who according to Church doctrine believe "all those of good moral character go to Heaven regardless of religion". Christians DON'T share beliefs, that's where your damn problem starts. You think Conservative wayhoos like Pat Robertson speak for the religion. They don't. One church ordains a Gay Bishop, and another Church cries fowl. Yeah that's sharing beliefsLOL, almost everything you just said is wrong.
Christians HAVE to share beliefs, and they HAVE to adhere to certain rules
and the fact that those that do not share the beliefs go rot in hell means it's pretty damned exclusive.
I don't know why either.the fact that Christians today are not "good"christians is not my problem, again. cult by definition. I don't know why I was te my time.
Then you have a very limited experience with religion. Hell Buddhism doesn't even have a sacred text to center around. Buddhists believe you can find enlightenment in anything from a flower to Socrates. Not much of a cult if you're aloud to go about things completely your own waythe problem you have is that you think I'm singling out one religion or the other, I'm not, they are all cults.
Yes, being secretive has a LOT to do with cults, that's why they are subculture's removed from societies. Like Morons who for a number of years "remove" themselves from society. Or Scientologists who remove themselves into buildings non-Scientologists cannot enter.because as I said already the act that they engage in is a "cult"
influence on mainstream society, being secretive or not has nothing to do with a cult. specially in modern society were persecution is removed for the most part.
And that is wrong because it wasn't. Nor was it a cult before. It was the Government in fact, which in itself is a very very different thing.the bestest thing is that Chaseter already said that yes in the past Christianity was a cult but it isn't now because America was founded on it.
good for himbut the basic beliefs and requirements for being a Christian are still there based upon the same teachings that marginalized it's believers in the past.
uh...still a cult.
Right but different Christians interpret the Bible ummm differently. Only if you take a strict literal interpretation which ONLY 5-10% OF IDENTIFIED CHRISTIANS CLAIM TO TAKE does it remove you from anything. Most Christians and ALL Jews believe the book is an allegory, in fact you won't find an accreditted Biblical scholar who refutes that.and the last part, well that's just silly "It doesn't remove one from participating in any activities"?
uh, Dude? read your Bible it removes you from TONS of activities.
In a cult there is no debate on what does or doesn't make you part of that cult. Rules are set, memberships are decided, you're either in or out. Christianity requires little if any conversion. Most people, in fact the majority, of Christians (those who identify on census as Christian) are confirmed to a Church or even go regularly. And just because Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell speaks one message doesn't not make it sacrosanc for that religion.
Watch Jesus Camp, is there not a CHRISTIAN radio show that disagrees on nearly every ground with the Camp...yeah there is. They interplay it with the movie. If it were a cult don't you think...oh I don't know...there'd be a wee bit more consensus.
I mean seriously, activate your brain for one minute. About 60% of the world considers themselves Christians. Does that WHOLE GROUP behave alike. Do they all wait to have sex before marriage, or preach literal truth claims, or even give two sh**s about damning people to hell...or did I wake up in Bizzaro world where the news media always likes to portray the most extreme angle of every group to get ratings. Whoops I didn't.
HAHA...you always talk smack about our government and Bush. I can't remember the last topic we had a go around in but it involved politics. Plus, I don't even know where you live...I just know it isn't in the U.S.
Are you f****** ********? I am talking about America, the U.S., the big powerful country that looms over your 3rd world shanty town.

Bull****. You specifically said that:
The U.S. is the number one country, most powerful entity on earth...where did I mention in that where he lives? I just know he doesn't live here because of all the sh** he talks about my country...so why not extend him the same courtesy?

The U.S. is the number one country, most powerful entity on earth...where did I mention in that where he lives? I just know he doesn't live here because of all the sh** he talks about my country...so why not extend him the same courtesy?
To be fair, he didn't say "I think Jesus should be considered just as much a psychopath/sociopath/murderous manipulator/schizophrenic/sexual degenerate/criminal as Charles Manson."
He said "Cult Leader". I believe his poor word choice obscured the fact that he was simply trying to say that Jesus WAS a "cult leader" and the same people who think cult leaders are wAck-O today, would've thought HE was a wAck-O, if he was around today.
And also that Jesus made outrageous BS claims, just like Manson did.
However, even if that is the case, He's still wrong, because Charles Manson's group did not spread and flourish for thousands of years, becoming one of the biggest cults in the world and forever altering history.
So Jesus should not be considered "just as much a cult leader as Manson", because his cult leader powers far, far, far, far,FAR outstrip any of Manson's.
Christianity is one of the most ginormous cults out there.
So Jesus was a more succesful cult leader. I never said that Jesus was as "evil" or "bad" but he was a damn crazy.
The U.S. is the number one country, most powerful entity on earth...where did I mention in that where he lives? I just know he doesn't live here because of all the sh** he talks about my country...so why not extend him the same courtesy?
I am afraid to respond because of Tangled Web and his moral ways.LOL, you extend the "courtesy" when it's the subject at hand you braindead baboon.
Who decides that exactly. Because up until about 300 to 400 years after Christ died it was decided the Bible was an allegory, then someone said it wasn't and created a hierarchy, then Martin Luther came along with all his ideas...so exactly which person decides for the group how to worship.no, I have no problem.
like I said, Christians aren't worshipping properly, at least not as they are commanded to by their religion.
that's their deal, not mine it doesn't mean anything aside that the beliefs have become dilluted over the course of the years.
