We all know Snyder has a hard on for Slow-mo effects so its very likely we will have it in this film. The question is do you think it can be avoided and do you want it used in the film?

I have mixed feelings about this, I cant deny that I have enjoyed the way its been integrated in Smallville on a few occasions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BDUwg4c4aE&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snYF7ZjMFbk then again its an over used prop in movies these days. So if you are for it then state why and if you are against then state why and also suggest alternatives that can be used to Show Supes amazing speed.

slow motion is different from bullet time.

slow motion is different from bullet time.

Isn’t Bullet time when a certain scene is slowed down to highlight a shot e.g. a bullet travelling towards a target or a punch hitting an opponent and then once that has been achieved its speed up to normal speed again. If that's the case isn’t that what Snyder does.

I wouldn't mind a little bullet time with Superman but not overdo it like he did with Watchmen, 300, and Legends of Ga'Hoole although I thought it looked awesome in Ga'Hoole.

Bullet time used to be a great thing. But it was Snyder's - and some other directors - abuse of it what made it boring and tiresome.

I wouldn't mind Snyder putting his own stamp on the film. Sure, he overuses it, but when he does use slo-mo, he executes it much better than other directors. Other directors, often make it look cheesy as hell.

i don't see why not? I find Superman is the obvious franchise to use bullettime and slow mo based on the character capabilities

It would be great to have a scene similar to the highway truck crash in Matrix Reloaded. That was one of the few "bullet time" moments in a film where I literally screamed "YEAH!" (much like the guy right after Neo saves the two). The build up to that save was brilliant I thought.

Yeah, Bullet time is simply slomo, but with the camera angles changing that normally can't be done. That's what amazed people and led to Hollywood doing it over and over again.

If I remember correctly, all Snyder has done is slomo and speeding up.

Synder uses it well, so I wouldn't mind him using it in Superman.

I actually think Snyder uses it terribly... the only effective uses I've seen of it were in Inception and the Matrix.

why does this even have to be asked? The man puts it in all his movies just about...so of course it's coming. I am not a fan of it but I guess I'll have to deal with it. I'd be shicked if he doesn't use it

I have to agree.

The new thing now with slo-motion effects is that directors have a habit of speeding up the action and then slowing it down for the needed effect like Neo punching Agent Smith and then speeding up the film again for example.

I really prefer the slow motion effects in any number of the Rocky movies when Rocky is boxing either Apollo, Mr. T or Drago, you can really feel the impact of the punches.

as long as he doesn't over sue it, I guess I could be alright with it

totally agree. for example, this totally doesn't do it for me, the effect takes me out of the moment:

One of the things I really liked about the 1st season of Smallville was the way they slowed time down to show Clark moving at super speed. There was an episode when he had a party whist his parents were away and someone was going to be sick, time slowed to everyone else hardly moving and Clark running in slow motion past them. In the new film they could use it to a more dramatic effect - shooting a bullet at Lois etc?

I wasn't keen on Snyder's "slow-fast-slow" style in Watchmen because it took away from the realism of those non-powered superheroes. I can't picture it being a horrible thing to see in a Superman movie, on the other hand; a character that moves so fast that some of the action would almost definitely need to be in slo-mo.

i think a big reason why Snyder was hired was because of hes experience with action and slow-motion.

If there was character/movie that ever existed that should have "bullet time" it is Superman. Point blank. And of course it shouldn't be over done. No one wants that. But you know Supes was made for this.

(I thought this belonged in this thread)

I just watched the new Sucker Punch trailer and I started laughing because I noticed how much slo-mo was in it hahaha Damn this guy has a serious hard-on for it! But I wouldn't have paid much attention to it had it not been for everyone here bringing it up... Crap! sometimes coming in here has Bad side effects.

I don't think that much slo-mo is necessary... Now I'm going to be looking for it. :cmad: What a downer.
