I highly suggest checking out three web pages.

The first belongs to Chris R. Notarile. This man does wonders for DC fan films. Best of all, they are high quality, but he has told me he never spends more than $100 making any of his films. Most of the films on this list I created, are his, including; Catwoman (Principles), Joker, Blue Beetle, Jason and Power Girl:The Classifieds. The second website is Ruby Filmz. This place is a great source for all kinds of independent shorts as well as fan movies. They host quite a few of Chris Notarlie's films, as well as several other fan films related to both DC and Marvel.

The third and final website, is Bat In The Sun. If you even feel you are remotely a Batman fan, you will want to check them out. Every fan film on their site, is Batman related. They even have one for Batman Beyond Year One. It's a great site with great films. They are responsible for the Batman Legends film, on my list.

Why do you hate them? It isn't like I chose ones that are crappy. These have high production values (in terms of fan films). But I won't comapre them with Batman Dead End or World's Finest, which had professional quality, due to the obscene budget of $30,000 a piece. Where as Power Girl was made for less than $100 (as told to me by Chris Notarlie, that he doesn't spend more than $100 on his fan films). All things considered, even the fan films without budgets like the ones that Sandy Collobra (the director of Dead End and Word's Finest), still turn out pretty good.

I guess i'm the only person here who is an enthusiast for fan films. I don't go in expecting a major hollywood effort. So maybe that is why. Then again, Superman Returns didn't speak volumes for Hollywood's capability either. Anyways, I think Power Girl is better appreciated if you've actually read the first four issues of JSA Classified. The short takes place inbetween those issues, where her powers were going crazy.

As someone who is heavily involved in Independant films in the end of the day, I think they should spend their money on something original and not just a fan film. It gets worse when they start entering their fan films into film festivals around the country and then get angry when none of the judges vote for them - because they should be writing and making something new and original not just a "fan film".

I don't have a huge want to see comic book heroes on the big screen - comics are perfect for them. So with that I don't realy want to see fan films it does nothing for me.

I bought a DVD at the last comic book convention I went to that had a bunch of Batman fan films on it. It had that Batman Deadend on it, which was freakin' awesome, by the way.

There was a Batman Beyond one on there but it was practically unwatchable.

But that Grayson trailer was also on the DVD and that looked like a pretty damn kick ass little thing they put together. I was all like, well, is this going to be a movie or what?!

Most of these fan films are never actualized into actual movies or episodes, for various reasons. The most common problem, is funding. Batman Dead End is all of 8 minutes long, and filming it cost $30,000. The second factor is that most of these people only create these fan films as a means of demonstrating their directorial skills, such as Sandy Collora and Chris R. Nortalie (respective directors of films on my list here). Very few fan films turn into long term projects. The only one i've seen, that has gone some where, are the Wonder Woman fan films (which I have trailers listed for, here). There is actually a 40 minute long film, that followed up a previous 8 minute film.

Fan-Films are horrible.

Grayson is horrible for the reason that he wouldn't be Robin when he's in his late 30s. If they changed it into a good looking Nightwing (the one with the bird on the front, not just the V, as the V doesn't translate well into real life, but the bird does) it would be much better, but eh,

That black canary film was just terrible. The costumes looked more like halloween get ups, than actual work for a film. The Long Bow Hunter was pretty good though. I didn't like the costume as much as the one in "Green Arrow" but it was still pretty good.

Some fan films are good, some are bad, and some are teases.

I've seen BATMAN: DEAD END, and I liked it, although naturally the Alien/Predator stuff feels random. I always saw it as a downside.

GRAYSON, as usual, kicks arse, although some of it is so melodramatic that it is unintentionally funny. But I liked it. The mismatch of Robin vs. Superman and the conspiracy stuff is cool. As I grow older it seems I like Robin more than I used to. Maybe 5 seasons of TEEN TITANS helped.

WORLD'S FINEST was better than DEAD END to me and I enjoyed that, too.

No one's mentioned the LOBO PARAMILITARY X-MAS SPECIAL? It's a 13 minute complete film, and it's pretty good as far as a live action Lobo could be. Nice costumes, decent acting, as professional as one could get.

BLUE BEETLE was lame, and came off as a lower budget riff of GRAYSON.

WONDER WOMAN: BATTLE OF JUSTICE gets points for being a WW movie that wasn't an excuse for bondage, but some of it was overacted. Seeing the boss go with the cliched, "one minion at a time" schtick got old. How, when seeing WW easily beat your last two goons one at a time, can you go to your third and go, "finish her off" as if she had any trouble? And I can see why Whedon wants to change her costume; classic as it is, it's hard to take her seriously. They kept her power level lower than it has become, closer to her Golden Age level, which is probably the way to go.

Aaron Schoenk (I hope I spelled that right) created 'Batman Beyond: Year One' as probably one of his first fan films. The guy has learned something from every short he's made and he's made a few. Each is a growth from the last. I can't wait to see where he goes.
