Cancelling AOL ( Your experiences bad/good)

I had AOL back in 1995 with the free some-odd hour trial thing, but also when they still charged $4/hour in Canada... I was only 11, and didn't really know... my parents got a bill for like $500 that month. Oops. (Yes, yes, my parents were crazy letting an 11-year old on the internet by herself, but for the record I never gave out my real name or location)

But yeah, when we said we were cancelling because of the $4/hour service charge and the $500 bill, they STILL tried to guilt us into staying with them.

I've had AOL since the late `90s and I've been happy. I don't know why so many people complain. Maybe its because I've been one of their longest customers and they treat me differently. I don't know!

I was Kicked off of AOL for cursing on the Chat Rooms!! I was kicked off for a week!! Aand got comcast the next day! AOL SUCKS!!

WHy in gods name whould they BAN you from the entire internet!?!? WHY not just the Chat rooms!?! *******S!! Thats bad for service! I Hope they Hit rock bottom!!

pretty much all my experiences with AOL were bad, cancelled it three or four years ago

my "i'm sorry" comment was complete honesty...i did have aol..and while not as much trouble as the guy in the link...was still a ***** to actually cancel..and i only used it for the free hours.

I've had a very bad past with AOL. Constant screw-ups with the bill, and I don't know how many times I'd call and say I wanted it shut down to get "Oh, well why don't I give you a free month?" "NO!!! Cancel it NOW!!" "You got it pal, THREE free months. We'll bill you later. For YOUR SOUL." "My what?" "Free months."

:mad::mad:

How the Hell can people dish out $25.00 a month for dial up? Hell, I pay $29.00 a month for DSL and I'm getting speeds of almost 3MB's. It amazes me that the computers I work on and the people have AOHell. I told everyone one of them to get rid of it.

I'd murder a small child before I returned to AOL

Considering you can use instant messeger and continue to get your AOL mail without paying for service, I see no point in having it.

Yup, that was pretty much our experience,,,,,,,,got 2 years free service for my mom before I finally broke it down...Look! go away!

Yeah, when you cancel they do everyhting possible to get you not to, maybe if they annoy you for an hour youll just give up and stick with it.

Credit Card companies are the same way. I wanted to cancel my one card because I just didn't use it anymore and I got into an arguement with the customer service rep and I kept telling her to just cancel my card.
