I just saw the latest picture of Cap's suit and I hate it. I always thought they did a poor job with it and this picture just proves it. It is poorly executed. They should translate the CTUAL Captain America costume with the same level of quality that the Spider-man movies did (Raimi).
These guys talk about it on their show. Check it out,.. you can even call in http://t.co/SEyPDRyh it airs at 1pm

I think the general consensus on this is going to be... Suit = Good, Helmet = Bad.

I think Cap's costume is great and in my opinion...Suit = Good, Helmet = Alright (could be better)

Like most I think the suit looks great but the mask ruins it though to be honest I'm not sure how they would get Cap's mask to work in the real world.

Ace & Rome ....
Your show?
or is the name a coincidence?
Yeah, helm coulda been better.

The helmet does look kinda lame. I dont know that exposed ears would truly fix the goofyness of it. But it would probably help. I guess i wish that if he has to wear it, they should have taken it all the way, with the wings raised. Oh well, heres hoping it will be a work in progress like most of the other heroes costumes. Regardless, ill still enjoy seeing this vision come together. With as little nitpicky criticism as possible.

The helmet from TFA was perfect. That's all that was needed.

Bad, because it's way to bright and busy. But the consensus seems to be that only the helmet looks bad. And after all the flaming I recieved half a year ago when I first wrote about my problems with the costume I won't argue with the majority again.

The bright side is, Hawkeyes look has somehow grown on me.

Beat me to it.

I think the suit looks great without the cowl, the cowl is just terrible with or without the suit. It does have that halloween costume look at times but I love it.

I like the look but its a bit silly and hard too take serious in camparison to his own movies suit. That damn zipper going down the front bothers me too, why couldnt the designer have put that in the back? I can see now why the designers from the solo movie said it would be impractical to make it almost identical to the comic version. I would have liked too if they didnt make his entire neck covered in blue and just did a blue strap around his chin and the make the helmet less thick.

I agree with what seems to be the general consensus: the suit looks great, but they should have kept the helmet from his solo film. That being said, I don't hate his look and have seen images of the new Cap from certain angles that I actually think look like a badass live-action Captain America.

Like this for example.

I also think Whedon will have an explaination within the context of the film as to why the suit is bright and comic-booky, like he did for the X-Men in his run on Astonishing. After all, within the films universe there are Captain America comics, so I think there will be explaination that has something to do with the spectacle of the character's iconography.

It's just a picture..

Don't overreact.

If you know anything about costume design in movies, you'll realize that they create these costumes in a way so that they achieve the desired look when actually filmed.

It's fine guys. Out of the 15-20 photos we already have of Captain America, we can't just look at 2 or 3 bad photos and automatically reach a final conclusion--that's not consistent. Either it looks good or it doesn't.

I think in the photos, I've seen it look better more than not, and in the film, it'll look even better.

Nothing to worry about.

If you do a poll for this question, make sure you choose more than an either-or option. Should include:

() whole suit is bad
() whole suit is good
(X) suit is good, helmet is awful

Whatever the story intent, the visual is not pleasing to the eye. TFA looks measurably better in every way. He looks like he's ready to join the Captain American TV movie in that get up. Just not feeling it. Very nerdy looking. And Hawkeye is a complete fail. I'm sorry. But if that guy is going to wear sleeveless shirts, please give him some build on those arms. He looks like a convention nerd.

It's good and a huge improvement over TFA.

The problem? They went too far with the cowl/helmet. For starters it needed more prominent wings and the exposed ears like the action figures and promo designs. It tried to be combine the TFA aesthetics and that was a bad idea. It's also confusing how in some shots it looks like cloth/speandex when it is off Cap's head and other shots where it looks like a completely separate, plastic piece that would need to be removed separately.

I'm sure once we see it in action though, it will look fine.

What people don't understand is how bad TFA costume was because it was cumbersome and restricting. It was simply not functional for the type of character Captain America is. He could not showcase his acrobatic and athletic movement and maneuverability in a costume like that with it's lugubrious pouches and padding.

Like everything in a movie, it is meant to be seen in motion. Notice how loud folks crow when they see a picture, and yet they suddenly say nothing on threads involving the trailer?

Even just judging from the trailer, Cap has to move a lot more in this movie. He suddenly has to keep up with superhumans and aliens, and you have to design a suit that makes that sort of movement look *feasible*. TFA suit worked for the environment and the "conservative" stunts required in that movie. I promise Cap will have to do a lot more this time around, and something big and bulky isn't going to cut it. All that is required of the suit is that it is functional and you can identify from a distance that you're looking at Captain America. The suit appears to succeed on both fronts, so little nitpicky things...are irrelevant.

It seems so silly and inconsequential for people to complain about something they'll never notice in a movie where they are going to be completely bombarded by occasionally absurd images. The suit being functional and not constricting Mr. Evans' or any stuntman's range of motion is first and foremost. That's something a comic book artist doesn't have to consider, and certainly not something the typical comic book fan considers.

Yup everyone *****ed about not only Ledger's casting as the Joker, but the overall look when it was first revealed.

it's easy to moan and nitpick when it's a picture, or even a short repetitive gif. You'd be surprised. lots of people hated the shots of skinny steve, cos they could see everything that was wrong. During the actual film, it was shocking at first, but after that i didn't even notice it. I'm sure the same effect will happen here.

I love the suit, and I like the helmet just fine at most angles.

Not to mention that it has looked good in all the shots it's seen in the trailers so far.

The First Avenger costume was great and I think the one he's sporting in The Avengers is perfect.

I just don't understand why there are three ****ing zippers on the suit, one on the torso and two on the legs.
Overall I'm fine with the suit but seriously, those are so glaringly unnecessary.

I think the body suit of Captain America is pretty fantastic. The helmet is decent not terrible and I don't too much care for the boot and glove design, but overall, I dig it. Also, it tends to look better in motion than in still pics imo.

Assuming the Cap sequel and /or Avengers 2, I would see if a more form fitting, fabric based cowl could be be used with the ears exposed and redesign the gloves and boots.
