which comic book is this one ?

That's from the old DC vs Marvel comic books that came out in the mid-90s. Lots of people didn't like this series (4 books, I think). They viewed it as a popularity contest. For example, they had Lobo (who I believe is just as strong as Superman) lose to Wolverine in a bar brawl. At the time I didn't know who Lobo was since this was actually the first set of comics that I ever bought, but now I can see how fixed the fights were.

they put lobo vs wolverine cause they both have good fighting skills. had nothing to do with there powers there.

I think it was more because of their "badass bad boy" attitude, more then anything else.

We're these four books collected in a trade?

Yep.

Of course, later on, it was implied that Prof. X bribed Lobo to take a dive. Kind of their way of covering their asses since they realized how silly the outcome of that fight was.

I heard his stregth goes up and down to match his opponents

i like the jla vs avengers set better. it would be cool if they made a movie of that.

So who actually published this series? Was it Marvel or was it DC?

Not quite sure ....

Dan Jurgens wrote the stories, with reader's voting ultimately determining who would win each battle. Unfortunately, the series spawned off the Amalgam Comics line that I found, to be perfectly honest, extremely boring.

The only Amalgam title I truly liked was Magneto & The Magnetic Men.

jla vs avengers it was marvel that published it. marvel vs dc not sure

JLA vs Avengers was a mixed publishing venture. Two issues were published by Marvel, and two were by DC.
