I know this is a James Bond thread, so I will probabally get flamed big time for this. But, the two biggest spy franchises of all time are: James Bond 007 and Mission: Impossible.

I remember hearing at the beginning of the year that we were going to get a Mission: Impossible film this year, and a James Bond film as well. Wow, cool.. two spy movies in a year... I wonder what will be better.

I saw M:i:III and loved it. Alot. It's been one of my favorite movies of the year despite what all of the Tom Cruise haters and what not say. Then I saw Casino Royale... hmm... I can honestly say that without a doubt I enjoyed Mission: Impossible III a lot more. And, trust me... I'm a big Bond fan... but M:i:III did me in. I didn't much care for the first M:I or the second... but the third one was so good... a lot better than this James Bond in my opinion.

So, which is your favorite... M:i:III or Casino Royale. I know this is a Bond thread, so I won't be surprised if all say CR... but I'm just very curious, and wonder if any will prefer M:i:III like I do.

Two big spy movies this year... which ones better?

M:I:III was a fun movie, but I enjoyed Casino Royale a lot more. The main reason being M:I really went high on the cliche BS towards the end and didn't have a really memorable ending. I might be biased since CR is fresh in my mind and is longer, but. CR > M:I:III.

IMO, CASINO ROYALE ran circles around MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III (M:I:III was essentially the first and second M:I films combined, just with a few new elements thrown into the mix... hardly anything remarkable). M:I:III was fun, but nowhere near as well made as CASINO ROYALE was.

I thought CR was going to have a hard time beating M:I III, but it did with leaps and bounds.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was still one of the best villians I've ever seen, though. He was no joke.

And this thread needed a poll.

I loved MI3....but Casino Royale was better than even Goldeneye

Yea, this was a horrible place to ask this question. The answers you get really cant be any more biased.
I just watched Casino Royale and loved it, thought it was great. Im still not sure what i think of Daniel Craig tho, i mean im a fan of Craig but wasnt sure if he was "Bond" or not. I havent seen Mission Impossible 3 since opening night, so i cant remember too much from it. I really did like M:I:III tho. Both were really entertaining movies.

Casino Royale = Good.

MI:3 = Masterbatory garbage.

CR=good movie.

MI3=well you get the picture.

Loved Mission III but I'm still going with Casino Royale. I loved it even more. Put it this way: after seeing Casino Royale, no disrespect to Sir Connery, but Daniel Craig is the only Bond I want to ever watch again....

M:i:III was non-stop action with a fast moving story all the way through. Kind of like a Die Hard... non-stop fun.

Casino Royale definitely had it's moment, and just as much as I love Bond and all of the movies... M:I worked a lot better for me. Maybe it's because M:I was okay, the second was a little better, and the third was fantastic(IMO)... the series kept on getting better.

I don't know... I went into CR expecting more, that I didn't recieve. I tried my best to stay away from the spoilers, and what exactly the film was about... and went in expecting a Bond film... and I just don't feel I got one. I know this was the "realistic" take, but I was expecting Q and the gadgets, one major Bond villian and not a lot of flip-flopping, and a car chase. It was fun... but I didn't get all I wanted... call me greedy but I was expecting a Bond film.

With M:i:III I went in with the tastes of the other M:I films in my mouth... not so good. M:i:III delivered, because it blew my expectations away. But, yes... I should have posted this elsewhere, lol.

Oh, and I'm sure I'm going to get more hate for this. Die Another Day was my favorite Bond film(fast moving, good story, amazing action sequences)... here we go again.

Yup, that says it all, right there.

As for the question, well since MI3 was turd, like the other two film, then i'd say Casino Royale is better. But i understand that you may have a problem watching scenes with character development.

Casino Royale. Sign Hoffman up to play Blofeld, everyone will be happy.

i enjoyed M:I3 the most out of the trilogy because it's the most fun and it's the most stylized...

...but M:I3 is not as deep as Casino Royale is, nor as intense. CR is my new favorite Bond movie.

I find the first two Mission: Impossible movies superior to all the Bond movies of the same period, i.e. the Brosnan films.

have not liked any of the MI films.they could have been so good and yet were just cruise vehicals.CASINO for me easily beats MI3

Biased for goodness and biased against CRAP!

that's right

comparing CASINO ROYALE to M:I-III is like
comparing BATMAN BEGINS to (Shaq's) STEEL
