Cast a Ghostbuster remake...

I beleive I saw Dan the other day. In some gutter......somewhere.....I think.....

there should have been a third about a decade ago. Too late for one now.

So, remake....or nothing. For now....I go with nothing. Maybe I'll feel differenlt in 2020 or something....Murray, Ankroyd....everyone....they really were just perfect for the roles.

First off, no remakes. Just make it like a sequal where the team is already established, yet have a new cast/love interest/etc.

I agree with previous posts. The original cast cannot be outdone, especially Murray and Akroyd. The main reason is that Murray, Akroyd, and Ramis were old acqauintances beforehand. They had superb chemistry.

I thought the second one was really not good. How could they make a 3rd one with a new cast? It simply won't work.

However, If I had to choose a cast here is who I would choose.

HOLLYWOOD - Moviemaker Harold Ramis is trying to bring his Ghostbusters movie franchise

back to the big screen--and he wants Ben Stiller to star in a third film.

Ramis reveals Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd has written a new script, called Ghostbusters in Hell, and Ramis is keen to get the project started.

He tells InFocus magazine he wants Stiller to join Aykroyd and Rick Moranis in the sequel.

Aykroyd's script transports the bumbling ghostbusters into a parallel dimension via a portal in a New York warehouse.

Ramis explains, "What Danny had originally conceived was sending us to a special-effects hell--a netherworld full of phenomenal visual environments and boiling pits.

"But what works so well about the first two (films) is the mundane-ness of it all. So my notion was that hell exists in the same place as our consensus reality, but it's like a film shutter--it's the darkness between the 24 frames.

"So we create a device to do it, and it's in a warehouse in Brooklyn. When we step out of the chamber, it looks just like New York, but it's hell--everything's grid locked; no cars are moving and all the drivers are swearing at each other in different foreign languages. No two people speak the same language. It's all the worst things about modern urban life, just magnified."

Looks like a Ghostbusters 3 may be in the cards after all. Talk of a Ghostbusters 3 movie have been floating around for years, but with BIll Murray coming out and announcing that he refuses to do another one, it seemed that we had seen the last of the Ghostbusters. Well... maybe not.

The good folks over at Filmforce are reporting that Harold Ramis just may be getting the gang back together again... but with Ben Stiller replacing Murray:

Ramis reportedly wants franchise vets Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis to reprise their respective roles in the sequel, which the report claims will be called Ghostbusters in Hell, but he has his eye on A-lister Ben Stiller to star as a new Ghostbuster.

The script, written by Aykroyd, is said to feature a hell that looks alot like New York City. The Ghostbusters are able to be transported into hell via a portal in a New York warehouse.

I'm torn on this one. One the one hand I'd LOVE to see the Ghostbusters back on the big screen. I really liked the first two and the nostalgia factor in seeing a Ghostbusters 3 would be amazing. HOWEVER...

On the other hand, when I think of a Ghostbusters 3, I also can't get the image of Blues Brothers 2000 out of my head. A sad and pathetic attempt to utilize former glory for a quick cash in... that ultimately failed.

Harold Ramis chats about Dan Aykroyd's Ghostbusters 3 script with InFocus magazine. Ramis says he'd like Ben Stiller added on, but the snippet doesn't mention the other two Ghostbusters -- Venkman (Bill Murray) or Winston (Ernie Hudson). There's also no word on Sigourney Weaver. Hopefully they'll all be signed on for the third installment.

^ya, it could work with just keeping one or two of the original cast, working with a new team, (not recasting anyone)
as long as they write out , or explain the absents of the others, good, and just have the rest of the cast, as new characters, (also, written in to the story well)

Yeah, Winston could have some bastard kid who comes along. He never knew his daddy cuz he died of lung cancer but when he found out he was one of these Ghostbuster guys he kind of thought he'd check it out.

Ya' know, call me crazy but that could be a new spin on GB. Have the black guy be the main character. Winston's bastard son leads the cast.

No, it has to be Winston with the bastard. It wouldn't do a movie like Ghostbusters good to have Peter Venkman(Bill Murray) portrayed as a dead beat dad.

No way in hell you can say Peter is dead. I thinks it's best if Peter Venkman is written out as a lotto winner touring the world with his super model girlfriends. Maybe have him and his harem show up at the end in a limo or chopper or something.

Make the black guy the one who bastardizes his son. Villify Winston, the black man.

I think the lotto is a good idea. Although you could have it worked in that he sued Stay Puft Marshmellow's for 3.9 million dollars due to psychological damage. That might work.
