Cast a Ghostbuster remake...

No remake please. Thank you.

Hmm... I wouldn't mind a third movie. I would say I'd much rather see Ghostbusters made into a TV series, but not animated this time. I always preferred the cartoons to the movies. I never found the movies funny. Still, I don't think a new cast could be as funny as the original cast and certainly not a mixed cast of old ghostbusters with a few new faces.

If they must do a movie completely recast it (I like Dope Nose's suggestion for Stephen Colbert as Egon :word: ). If they are going to make Ghostbusters 3 a comedy find a plot to suit it, so far NY as Hell sounds lame. Part of my problem with the original movies is that the plots always seemed too serious for the movies and took much of the comedy out of it. However having unserious plots and a new cast would likely spell certain disaster at the box office. So the only way I think a remake stands a chance is having a serious plot and taking the movie seriously. Ghostbusters as more of an action movie could be very decent if they had the right plot. Really though, I doubt the popularity of a serious action Ghostbusters movie could compare with a Ghostbusters tv series. The exciting thing about ghostbusters is watching them use the gadgets with a tv series they would be freer to add to the mythology by adding new gadgets, ghosts and characters whereas a movie is constrained to have to spend a significant percentage of time explaining the new stuff.

I can see...
Ryan Reynolds
Nathan Fillion
Ben Stiller
Damon Wayans
Zooey Deshanel

With cameos by Bill Murray and Debra Messing

But as new characters in a new story. Perhaps about a the Ghostbusters going against a rival ghost busting team.

And I'ld love to see Edgar Wright (Shawn of the Dead, Spaced) direct:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

These guys are all too old. I don't like the remake idea anyway. I prefer a new team of Ghostbusters with a cast member or two from the original in cameo appearances. I think Rick Moranis' character Luis Tully would be one and the other(s) would be either Harold Ramis, Dan Akroyd, or Ernie Hudson. I am almost 100% sure that Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver will not be in it.

The question is; of Ramis, Akroyd, and Hudson which two would you put in a sequel and in what type of role?

In addition to Moranis I would have Ramis(because he would probably co-produce it) and Hudson in it. Venkman(Murray) would be wrote out as a lotto winner who moved to the Carribbean or something to that effect. Dana Barrett(Weaver) would not be mentioned. Ray(Akroyd) could be revealed as having been institutionalized but with a comical spin on it. Egon(Ramis) would be the mayor of New York. Winston(Hudson) and Luis(Moranis) would be the leaders of the new group of Ghostbusters.

As for the new Ghostbusters I see three at the maximum, two guys and the first female ghostbuster. I am not sure at this point who to cast in these roles. They would have to be relatively young, 32-35. That pretty much rules out all the popular choices.

actually they're not much older than the original actors were when Ghostbusters was released. plus it's not as if the characters are meant to be young.

Bill Murray - 34
Harold Ramis - 40
Dan Aykroyd - 32
Ernie Hudson - 39

Jeremy Piven - 41
Stephen Colbert - 42
Andy Richter - 40
Orlando Jones - 38

Well, not necesarily a remake, but another movie with the same characters played by different actors. It worked for the James Bond franchise. Why not Ghostbusters?

I still say if they're going to do another Ghostbusters it should be a remake. Written by Ramis & Aykroyd and staring Will Ferrel, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller and Mos Def as the Ghostbusters. Then if you cast Jack Black as the Environment Agency guy (his name eludes me atm) and go with a simmilar, if not the smae, story.

Because it's Ghostbusters. New actors = blasphemy.

I love this one better but I would switch Andy with Kevin James.

While I think Colbert is an excellent suggestion, Ryan Reynolds IS Peter Venkman

I just can't see those characters played by anyone else, unless they do a REALLY damn good job. Though it wouldn't seem as bad if it were say a live action television series.

I'd love to actually see the original cast return as an over-the-hill Ghostbusters team though. Perhaps cast a couple of new Ghostbusters, maybe Vince Vaugn, Owen Wilson. No Will Ferrel, I love the guy, but his humor just doesn't fit with Ghostbusters, unless say he gets some minor cameo. Add Ben Stiller as a Ghostbuster obsessed fanboy constantly stalking the guys and perhaps Bruce Campbell as an old Colleugre of Venkman, Stantz and Spengler. And Jack Black as Mr Staypuft (ok kidding....or am I?).
