I'd say Diane Lane or Annette Bening. Diane has a similar look and just needs to cut her hair short and not look too glamourous.

NPH does have a look of Jim Jordan though if you gave him a more balding hairstyle and glasses, and he has a somewhat similar tone of voice. And although he does mostly comedy, he does have the dramatic chops for more serious roles.
