It can't be a Gym. That huge glass wall/dome around them makes it look more like some big fancy dinner. Likely Lincoln/Tombstone is attending some Gala dinner or is hosting it himself when Gobby attacks. Also I doubt they'd put up a huge chandelier for a Fall Formal.

Very true, but I don't remember seeing windows on the ceiling in the Gym.

All right. I just saw the trailer like thirty more times. The building is way too tall and does not resemble the school at all. But I found it interesting that with such a beautiful room, no one's there. It's just Spidey and Goblin. I guess the party's over already.

It could have been evacuated as soon as GG got there
 
In one of the pictures there are people gawking, and they are near the exit doors. So likely they ran after the first few seconds.
 
Yeah, I guess some people just don't like having pumpkin bombs and razor bats lobbed at them. Who would've thunk?

Although this isn't Norman!Goblin, it's Bart Hamilton (aka GG III) attempting to party crash the mobsters and take over their act.

Eww, Bart Hamilton. I only accept Norman and Harry as Green Goblins; anyone else should just be one of the many Hobgoblin knock-offs.

I don't know about you guys but i'm excited about this episode. :D

I have great faith in this show they won't ruin the Green Goblin.

Wait and see before you get the torches and pitch forks. :p
 
Considering the trailer to SSM and now seeing the cover to ASM #178, he could very well be trashing a party held by Tombstone. Either way, I grow even more stoked for this ep.

yeah, Bart's definately an aberration, especially in hindsight with all the non-Osborns being Hobgoblins. (Although I don't think that storyline was without merits).

Agreed, this episode really looks promising in every sense of the word. We get to see more of MJ, we get to see the Green Goblin and Gwen's reaction when she sees Peter with MJ.

I just hope Gwen doesn't run off crying but I think this version of the character is made of stronger stuff.

Gwen being sensitive was a big part of her in the comics and it made us feel bad for her. In ASM Issue #87, she couldn't even enjoy the party because she was worried about Peter.

I know but it also made her a crybaby. Got to the point where she couldn't go a single issue without crying.
 
yea i guess maybe gobby is crashing a party/gala tombstone is throwing if it isnt the formal like others have said peter said it was at the gym and it doesnt look like one.
 
There's being sensitive and there's being insipid. Hopefully this Gwen does not become the latter.
