And no, this time it wasn't me. :o

A coworker of mine just got fired basically because he was nodding off earlier today. My boss basically took him to one of the back rooms, Chris Hansen style (why don't you come back over here with me?) then he comes back to his cube, gets some of his stuff all while not saying a word, and leaves. I confess I have been on the verge of taking a nap while at the desk, but usually can keep myself awake. Unless you just work somewhere that allows you to just relax like that, have you ever fallen asleep?

Getting fired for that is a bit extreme.....what the hell. Who cares was his job that important that he had to stay awake? Why not tell his boss he was just tired? Blah blah

One of my first interning jobs while I was still in school, there was literally nothing to do most of the day, so I just kinda nodded off a few times.

Usually the penalty is a one week suspension without pay. But they changed it this year for some reason.

If they start penalizing jerking off in the bathroom, you should quit that place terry.

What was his job? Did he totaly pass out? Was it his fault he was tired or was the job too much for him?

Now you're just preaching to the choir. :o

And our jobs are being consultants to companies with 1000 employees and making sure their IT orders and networks are always up and running...so yeah, it's a little important. And I am aware of the irony of my job being so important that I am on here every damn morning.

Terry buddy.

Do you live to work or work to live?

I worked graveyard at a job a few years back. Between bursts of activity there were long periods of nothing to do. So sometimes I'd nod off. But I knew it would never be a problem because my boss did the same thing.

Indeed you need to have some rest time at work....most poeple spend a third of their day there for gods sake!

First you get the money. Then you get the power. Then you get the wee-min.

I lay on the floor at breaks and sleep sometimes. But I'm busy and on my feet the entire rest of the shift so I don't really have time to nod off.

We have had people crawl onto empty shelves and sleep, though.

Nice job perks, where do you work? Jew shop? lol

^ cool

What passions do you have that you could turn into a career?
I can f' like a machine but outside the porn, and prostitution professions, it's not as profitable.

I guy at the job I'm working at now, passed out big time when I first starting, loud snoring and everything, boss woke him up, his excuse was he had a migraine. That got him a warning, he wasn't doing very well at his job though and was caught at least one more time sleeping, he's not here anymore.

I'm on my feet at my job, so nodding off is impossible. Yes, I'm a street walker. :cwink:

I worked at a warehouse one summer and a guy made a bed on one of the shelves. Only problem was no body would wake him up for lunch or breaks and his absences at those times got suspicious.

want a clever way to take little naps at work?

take a bathroom break, lock the bathroom and sleep for 10-15 mins, if somebody asks you why you took so long, just tell them you have potty problems

Ugh. I can't even use public restrooms except to pee. I can't even imagine trying to sleep in them. :down

I worked a 12 hour day once and still when out to party, the next day I remember sitting in front of my computer at work and I fell asleep for about 30 minutes and nobody noticed. Ha!

I used too do that when I worked at Target and Wal-greens.

I dozed off once in my office at the station, no one noticed or cared, it seemed. lol

If they can fire someone so easily,it must mean that there is enough space or money to get rid of workers like nothing.
