As much as I want Spider-Man 4 (whenever it comes out) to focus on Spider-Man and a more true portrayal of his alter ego, we really we haven't seen any past Peter Parker scenes i. e. flashback scenes from his childhood.

Does anyone else think this would add to the depth of Peter's character besides his usual whining over Mary Jane, which is the only development we have seen?

I would love to see Spider-Man 4 start off with a killer action scene with someone like Schocker or Rhino...boasting the wise cracking Spider-Man with classic Spider-Man villains and mythos, however I would love a flashback scene to preclude it showing Peter as a young boy and Uncle Ben. I couldn't pinpoint it exactly however something pertaining to Uncle Ben giving even more wisdom, yes, albiet not beating the audience over the head. Something truely honest and hopeful that Peter could reflect on perhaps at the end of the film, giving him that extra nudge. It would also be a great view to our hero as a child, showing depth.

What do you all think, should Spider-Man 4 include something like this?

Sure, maybe?

I say they should explain what happened to his parents, somehow connect it with the story but not in a BIG way, or a corny way.

My God I got it. The scene could be along these lines: Focusing on the growing relationship of Uncle Ben being a replacement of Peter's father, Uncle Ben helps Peter at a sad moment where Peter, as intelligent as he is, sees the world as cruel, as displayed by an incident at school where a bully was picking on another child, not Peter.

The scene depicts Peter as truely intelligent with great forsight to see how the world can be but as a young person cannot see any brightness or joy in with pain in life.

It's Uncle Ben who shows Peter the power of humor, viewing the flipside or irony in life that one must always rememeber and use to sustain a sense of balance.

This is where Peter develops his "wise-cracking" if you will. Given the events of Spider-Man 3, all the tramatic villains and moments and deaths thus far, Peter remembers this lesson.

And behold, we have our wise cracking Spider-Man, using humor or light in the drowning of darkness (fighting villains / going thru bad times / etc).

I'd love to see that!

80 percent of Spider-man 2 is character development!

You all call what's in Spider-Man character development, Peter Parker is still the same timid non-sociable nerdy juvenile he was in the first movie? Except he cries more now. And what of the title character, Spider-Man, he's still a mute with no personality.

Amen! That's the purpose of why I started this thread buddy, being disgusted with the interpretation of Peter Parker and especially Spider-Man on screen.

Alright, on all the scenes Peter sheds a tear in these movies, you don't think it's necessary? I mean, losing a best friend, a girlfriend, your uncle? I mean, it would be inhuman for him to sit there and be okay with it. If he lost MJ in the Symbiote, yeah, no crying please. He's too badass! But he wasn't wearing it.
I mean, Batman cried in Dark Knight which I'm surprised people didn't whine over, but it was necessary. Hell, Rambo bawled at the end of Rambo.

Sometimes it's just fitting. Yeah, maybe there were just too many sad things in 3, which made it seem like alot of crying, but if they used those story bits then it has to happen.

As for Spidey, I agree/disagree. He is not a mute. He's talked alot in the mask, he's had quite a few good jokes. Though, I would like to see more of it. Like I was looking at "Venom Origins" and he saved Eddie from some gangsters, and Eddie goes "Stay away from me!" and he responds with "Whatever. Call the police etc."

The "whatever" just made me laugh. Stuff like that needs to be shown.
