PSYLENTGuardian had the very neat idea of compiling all of what we know about the film thus far into chronological order in an attempt to give us all a landscape of the film. The ones in the thread were pretty barebones, so I'm going to attempt to make it a bit more in depth and detailed. Feel free to add or change anything as some of this is a bit of speculation

  • We find a young Peter Parker at Ben and May Parker's home. His parents are leaving him behind to attend to "something [Peter's] mother and [father] need to take care of." Peter is then left in the care of Ben and May.
  • Fast forward to present day where we meet an older Peter at Midtown Science High School. He's smart, but somewhat socially awkward and a bit of an outsider. As he walks down the halls people stare and simultaneously avoid him.
  • We meet Gwen Stacy at some point here.
  • Peter heads home and takes it upon himself to do some digging to learn more about his parents. He stumbles upon his father's old briefcase. Inside he finds an old pair of glasses as well as many things pertaining to Oscorp.
  • Peter further investigates his connection to Oscorp where he runs into Gwen Stacy. Gwen gives him an unofficial run of the facility. Peter meanders into the depths of the building and enters a lab that features extraordinary spiders. Peter notices one is missing and gets bit shortly after.
  • Nervous about what has happened, Peter flees Oscorp and avoids leading onto what happened to avoid getting Gwen in trouble as she advised him not to touch anything. Peter boards a train to Queens where he bumps into a couple of ruffians who break his skateboard. Upset about what has happened, Peter discovers a newfound set of abilities and easily handles the thugs. On his way home, Peter also discovers that he has a huge appetite and goes to the market to pick up some food.
  • Upon returning home, Peter finds that his Uncle Ben and Aunt May have waited up for him. Confused at the broken skateboard and the mound of food, Aunt May inquires, "Peter, what's going on." as Peter snatches a fly with superhuman reflexes.
  • After doing his best to lead his aunt and uncle onto anything unusual, Peter rushes up to his bathroom where he discovers a thin strand of web dangling from the back of his neck. Peter yanks it out and analyzes it to make sure these things are really happening.
  • After taking some time to think over what has happened Peter goes to bed. He wakes up the next morning to an alarm clock and smashes it with his newfound strength. Confused, he wanders into the bathroom and attempts to brush his teeth, but breaks the sink knobs and makes the tube of toothpaste explode under his strength.
  • Peter, while still unsure of what this all could mean, gains confidence from his new abilities. In gym class, he engages in a game of basketball and provokes Flash to try and attempt to get the ball from him. Flash fails to do so and seeks revenge on Peter after class for humiliating him in front of his friends. Peter counters and pins Flash up against the locker before a teacher can step in and bring him to the principal.
  • Uncle Ben is called into school and meets with Peter's principal. Afterwards, he discusses with Peter why he did it, and if it was done to the boy who gave him all those bruises. Peter obliges and answers Uncle Ben's questions before Gwen Stacy walks down the hall. Uncle Ben recognizes her as the girl on Peter's computer. Embarrassed, Peter awkwardly attempts to fix the conversation by trying to ask Gwen out. Gwen finishes his sentence for him and agrees.
  • Peter begins to realize that he can go out and beat up thugs without very much risk for fun.
  • After a few nights of Peter returning home late, Uncle Ben confronts him about it and the bruises he brings home. Peter gets angry and runs out again with Uncle Ben following.
  • Peter finds a hiding spot in a not so friendly neighborhood and ignores Uncle Ben's calls. After a while, Peter hears a gunshot and cautiously approaches the scene.
  • He comes across a dying Uncle Ben in a side alley who mutters that "With great power must also come great responsibility." Peter urges anyone that can hear to call an ambulance as Uncle Ben dies in his arms.
  • Uncle Ben's funeral probably happens at some point here with Gwen consoling Peter.
  • Peter delves further into the mystery of his father to try and keep his mind off of his Uncle. He finds a formula for an adhesive and eventually develops it into a web formula. He also spends time constructing webshooters and developing his costume as he has realized that he has spider powers and can use them for good. He thwarts a number of petty crimes including a car jacking.
  • Dr. Connors has likely been introduced at this point and has taken an interest into Peter by virtue of Peter's intelligence. He invites Peter back to Oscorp to show him some of his theories and experiments.
  • After Peter leaves, Dr. Connors asks himself if he's, "ready to play God?" He records himself explaining the procedure, his expected results and injects himself with his regenerative formula. Things start out as planed but shortly after, they go haywire. He slowly develops scales and becomes a lizard. He flees to the sewers (somehow) where he changes back into Dr. Connors.
  • Dr. Connors continues his testing to try and perfect the formula but continues to fall short. He eventually turns into a massive lizard and proceeds to the sewer system.
  • The Lizard follows the sewer system to Midtown High where he stalks a couple of high school girls. The girls sprint out from the bathroom as Peter and Gwen are talking. Peter's spider sense goes off before the Lizard busts through the wall of the bathroom. As students flee for the exits, Peter ducks into a vacant classroom to get into costume.
  • Spidey and the Lizard battle all throughout the school as the fight spills into the cafeteria, classrooms and the library. Peter's nervousness is evident as he hasn't fought anything like this before.
  • Eventually the Lizard escapes to the sewers again where he reverts back to his human side of Dr. Connors.
  • Peter, remembering Dr. Connors lecture about regeneration and the advantages that lizard's have, decides to visit Dr. Connors at Oscorp. However, Dr. Connors isn't there. Instead, Peter runs into Nels Van Atter, another scientist employed by Oscorp. As it turns out Van Atter knows exactly who Peter is and what has happened to him. He asks Peter if he has any idea what he really is. After an intense conversation Peter leaves Oscorp with a heavier burden with which he entered.
  • Gwen invites Peter over for dinner where Peter meets Captain Stacy. After a bit of small talk, the topic gets changed to the recent battle that the Lizard had with Spider-Man, and the many crimes that Spidey has averted. Captain Stacy believes that what Spider-Man is doing is wrong and while they are fighting for the same thing, Captain Stacy does it legally and with a badge. Gwen attempts to defend Spidey and, in turn, Peter.
  • Spidey and the Lizard have another smaller fight and Gwen tends to Peter's wounds after, finding out that he is Spider-Man.
  • The Lizard continues his reign of terror on NYC as Spider-Man officially has a warrant out for his arrest.
  • Spider-Man and the Lizard eventually battle on a bridge. Captain Stacy has deployed his man to both take down the Lizard and Spider-Man. Spider-Man focuses primarily on the Lizard while avoiding the NYPD/SWAT officers. Spider-Man also saves a construction worker's son before the Lizard is able to harm him and returns him to safety. Eventually, Captain Stacy is killed by the Lizard in battle. Soon after, the Lizard again flees to the sewers and Spidey follows in pursuit. They battle it out and Peter eventually rips off his mask in one last attempt to reach through to Dr. Connors yelling, "DR. CONNORS! STOP! THIS ISN'T YOU!" Shortly after, SWAT member lower into the sewer and quickly take him out. Spider-Man hides in the shadows and escapes knowing that he is still a wanted man.
  • Captain Stacy's funeral is held and Peter can't muster up the courage to go to the funeral in person, knowing how upset Gwen must be. Instead he watches from afar and swings overhead as Gwen Stacy looks up into a rainy sky.
  • The final scene takes place at the Parker household. We hear a knock and Peter says he'll get it. He opens the door to a crying Gwen. She asks why he wasn't at the funeral and he tries to explain to her why but can't seem to do it. Gwen slaps Peter and walks off. There's a final POV swing with Peter narrating and then the credits roll.

Did what I could with what we know! Would everyone be satisfied if it ended up being more or less like this!? I know I would!

I forget who it was, but someone had the very neat idea of compiling all of what we know about the film thus far into chronological order in an attempt to give us all a landscape of the film.

It was my idea, I believe. And it looks like you've expanded it quite a bit... :awesome:

EDIT: Also, it's Midtown Science High School.

hahahaha Yes I did, I'll give you credit in the OP. And thank you for the correction!

I read the whole thing. If this is all true (most of it is, anyway), I suggest making a spoiler warning for the topic. And if it is all true, I really hope Van Atter gets some closure in the story and doesn't just pop up to give tension for the Spidey/Peter Parker identity.

EDIT: Also, 700th post. :awesome:

Well, to be fair, this is the *spoiler* section of the TASM forum. Also, we know next to nothing about Van Atter. I assume he'll have a connection to Peter's parents, but I wanted to keep this as limited to what we know as possible.

You forgot the scene where Gwen goes to Peter's house while it's raining. They talk, she cries, she slaps him, and she leaves.

Ahhh I did. Any ideas as to where that might happen and what it might pertain to?

I remember someone guessed she's upset with him because he wasn't at the funeral.

Do you think that's how the movie might end? Gwen walking towards the camera with a shocked Peter in the background. Then the final swing with a self monologue?

Could be, but I don't think Sony is bold enough to end the first movie on such a sad note. I could see them doing it with the sequel though.

I dunno the whole theme of this movie seems to be pretty somber. Kid's parents leave him, they die, his father figure dies, his girlfriend's father dies, his professor and scientific mentor dies. It's not a very happy movie to begin with lol

We don't know if Connors will die. I still don't think he will considering all the other deaths in the movie. If he does die though adding a break up to the top of that pile seems like serious overkill. It seems like in trilogies (yeah, yeah, we don't know if this will turn into a trilogy or not) the first movie ends on a hopeful note despite a tragedy, the second movie will have a grim ending, and the third will end in triumph.

SM1 ended in total tragedy (best friend's dad died right in front of him and he shut down the girl of his dreams), SM2 ended in total happiness (girl of his dreams runs from her wedding to go for him), and SM3 was a complete mixture (best friend dies but ends up with the girl) lol

Yeah, but look at the 'Back to the Future' trilogy and the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.

Yes, most trilogies follow that pattern but it doesn't mean all of them have to. I dunno, I think TASM is going to be pretty tragic but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think it will be tragic too, but I also think it will end with a hopeful vibe.

I think that hopeful vibe will try to be attained through a final somewhat triumphant swing.

Yeah, and they might try something with the public starting to warm up to Spider-Man since he saves that guy's son. I just feel like they will put something in there to make the ending hopeful.

Yeah that too. I think Peter's personal life will be in shambles while his life as Spider-Man will be one that is looking upward. It will emphasize the stark contrast of his two realities which I think will be very interesting to see going into TASM 2.

Do you think it's possible that the scene in question happens sometime in the middle of the movie? Like maybe Gwen is upset with Peter because she knows he's hiding something and lying to her.

Possibly but I don't think she'd slap him for that. That would just make her come off as a huge *****. However, if she slapped him for skipping her own father's funeral, that's a different story entirely. It would be much more acceptable on her part but at the same time you'd feel for Pete.

I think that what we will eventually get will be totally different from what we have figured

I'd say about 25-50 percent of this is about right more or less.
