Charlie Kaufman Adapting YA Series Chaos Walking

Eh, I thought the trailer was interesting and Doug Lima’s has never let me down so I will try and see this when it becomes available.

The book is actually quite good, especially the first half. But the Noise is so central to the world building and storytelling and did not seem like something that would be very adaptable to film. And, judging from the trailer, it wasn't.

Still with this cast and Liman at the helm, I am intrigued. I thought the trailer was poorly done but the footage itself looked somewhat compelling. But yeah, I think they probably had a lot of issues making this story work for film on a fundamental level and I suspect editing has probably been a total nightmare.

Also in watching this trailer I am reminded of a scene in the book that is absolutely crushing and I am not sure I could handle actually watching it.

Patrick Ness wrote Class. It was okay. I know he's gay but he's got a fascination with women with blonde bobs.

As I said in another thread. It's just another generic Tom Holland and quite frankly boring. Who knows it might be good but this film on a whole and rumours of naked butts don't fill me with much intrest.

I feel sorry for the cast.

What rumours are they

His best work, More Than This, should be adapted. It's pretty dark for YA...

Pushed back to March 5. Set for a theatrical release.

And to no one's surprise, it's a dud.

20% RT with 15 reviews thus far.

I forgot it was even a thing until I saw a commercial last night.

Oh yeah. I forgot about this.

It looks like After Earth and What Men Want got really drunk one night and screwed, and nine months later, this was the result.

At 19% with 27 reviews in. Obviously not surprised, but I'm still planning to check it out Friday. Seeing most say it's not a good movie, but still entertaining. That's what I'm expecting/hoping for.

Yeah with Liman involved, I may just check this out whenever it releases in the UK.

I tried it and at first it seems to have an interesting premise, yet... Holland looked like he was the only one who tried. Mads is there for a check. Daisy is at her absolute dullest. Production design is crap. Almost no action. Everything looks gray. I expected more from Liman.
