I thought perhaps we could halt the flood of fake posters, trailers, and pictures by posting the common fakes in here so people can check before they post. Perhaps this should be a sticky.

I'll start by adding the three most common fakes:

Another fake trailer

Stickying this and closing so the first post will be the only thing new posters see

They opened it up for posting, nice. I noticed the Fake trailer Video wasn't working anymore so here it is again. Bad fake but people keep thinking it's real.

The Joker Mobile is fake? I thought it was confirmed as real!

The existence of such a car is genuine, but that's not it.

I havent seen any topics about it yet, but I thought I'd better post it here before anyone gets fooled. I thought it was genuine at first.

My friend and i made this off of the teaser. what we thought it should have contained. its not real.

Ahh, the locked thread. It appears that there seems to be a lot of those lately. Topics ranging from how hot Jett's wife is, to newbies claiming to have Wizard World footage.

Who do we believe? Are the newbies to be trusted? 500 posts to start a new thread, plz??

Those are the questions we should be asking ourselves, and those are the questions I will be answering today. However, there are some I am incapable of answering. Just how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? Is Jett's wife really hot?

"...The world may never know."

But before we address the problem, let's get a little background (for those of us unfamiliar with recent events).

The 8 PM Scandal

Quite a while ago, a user on IMDB claimed he was going to be posting the much anticipated 3 minute segment of footage from Wizard World Chicago at 8 PM Eastern Time.

It was obviously fishy from the start, but not to some people--they believed it! The rest of us just played along...:cwink: So the 8 PM thread (now long deleted) became a sort of anticipation party for something that was obviously not coming. At the end of the day, the IMDB poster was outed fake and his life was threatened with an audio file from this guy who claimed to know where he lived and who also claimed to have a twelve gauge--and an arsenal of various weaponry.

Needless to say, RandomRival (our beloved IMDB user) is long gone by now. :csad:

But what happened at 8 PM? Well, after about a thousand posts at the SHH! thread and about half a million people online, RandomRival posted a Fresh Prince of Belair version of the famous Rick Roll.

Everyone knew it was coming, but we hung on to the false hope that it might prove true. Some of just played along though.

The Aftermath

After the 8 PM scandal, some SHH! members were inspired by RandomRival's audacity and decided to claim to to have WW footage and Rick Roll the rest of us. It is safe to assume hunter_rider has already taken care of them.

What else did you think his username meant?

The Guide to Gullibility

History lesson aside, let's get on to the guide. Here, I'll show quick, brief lessons on posting threads, show how to be cautious about trusting iffy info, and how not to look like a fool.

-Think Before You Thread

It is guaranteed you'll be flamed whenever you start a new thread so it make it good. Search before you start a new topic. It'll save you the assault from other SHH! users yelling at you that there's already a thread.

-Use Proper Grammar

lolololzzz! teh joker look like pandazzzz

At least attempt not look to like an idiot from Language Arts hell.

-Don't even think about Rick Rolling.

Hunter will kill you. Seriously.

-Before you click, "reply"...

...ask yourself. Will I be emotionally traumatized if I post this new thread? Will the bashing by other SHH! members force me to consider a psychiatrist? Is it really worth it?

Of course not. Exit your web browser and never come here again. You just saved us a whole bunch of trouble.

It's easy being smart. Just think of something stupid and don't post it.

Trust and Suspicion

UFO---I-Want-to-Believe--C10282688.jpeg

In a world of uncertainty, who do we turn to? What do we believe? Does the noob really have the footage?

Here's where the X-Files actually apply to our lives.

TRUST NO ONE.

If a user is stupid enough to start a thread, let alone claim to have an important piece of info or footage, take these into consideration.

-Look at the poster's join date.

As harsh as it sounds, new users (joined the same or a few days back) are usually the source of the problem. SHH! users are like fine wine. The older the join date, the better they taste.

However, even veteran Hypesters can lure you into a false sense of trust and post a Rick Roll. Trust no one, dammit!

-Grammar

If he's typing like aforementioned, he's most likely 12. Bad grammar is probably the most obvious indication of soon-to-be Rick Rolling or posting of rumors from Latino Review.

-Check the post count

500 posts before you can start a new thread, claims a large majority of people. If the user joined two years ago, but still has less than 200 posts, proceed with caution. They've been waiting quietly all these years...

-Careful what you click

Now this is when thing's get serious. Links can easily lead to spam, adware...porn. I mean, everyone loves porn, but if that busty babe is making your computer turn on and off against its will, you have a problem. This is when the mods need to take serious action as links can potentially pose a danger to the gullible ones. No matter how much we hate the idiots, it's even worse if they infect our computers too.

The chance that this'll happen is slim, but the risk is there.

Let's not be stupid. Don't believe everything that you hear, use proper grammar, proceed new users with caution (they bite!), and careful with the links.

But the final point is:

Have fun! :yay: This is SHH! For every troll out there, there's at least a dozen decent forumers in its place. Make friends, visit the Batusi lounge, chat about TDK info with buddies--

I'm kidding.

TRUST NO ONE.

That's a little harsh. I'm new, and I mean, I might be a little biased here... But I'm great.

Bubba Gump has many good points though, everybody should read em. This should be sticky'd again.
