Chloë Grace Moretz Drops Out Of All Her Future Films

Isn't that what happened to Michelle Pfeiffer though? She was hot once upon a time, then took time off to spend time with her family and then role offers dried up and she got replaced by other up and coming actresses.

Michelle Pfeiffer was in her early forties when she took a break from acting and older woman don't really get offered many leading roles anyway unfortunately.

That's starting to change. JK Simmons kind of talked about it in a recent interview.

Yeah very, very slowly for the women. It's going to take decades for that to even out if it ever does.

And JK will get roles anyway. He's a dude in Hollywood. Same can't be said of numerous actresses who's of similar age to him.

The important thing to note, that people keep seeming to miss even though she says it pretty clearly, is that she's not saying she's taking a break. She's saying she's being more selective of her roles.

So instead of taking 3 mediocre to bad studio pics a year, she's doing maybe 1 movie a year that she actually cares about. It's only going to turn into a "break" when she's not doing a film/project for a couple years

He was talking about women in particular in that interview. How there's a kind of a double standard with men and women in Hollywood when they get passed their 50's and that it is changing.

In no sense was it becoming a reality. And yes, you were saying she wasnt a success by calling her/agreeing that she is box office poison. Box office poison has to do with the numbers not the quality of the films. And her numbers were fine. Just because she's not reaching the heights you think she is doesn't mean she's box office poison

I agree that the quality of the movies havent been there but thats not what you or a couple of people were initially saying she was box office poison for some weird reason

So now you get to decide what I was saying and what I meant? No, that's not how it works. And it does start becoming a reality when your grosses are consistently mediocre.

You need to relax.

what she did was very smart IMO. she has enough money. of course dating a Beckham means that she will learn how to spend to much money in a short time.

i still can not belive that she agreed to be in the Carrie remake. that was a bad/stupid choice.

huh? The Beckhams are rich as hell and are good with their money.

lol Im perfectly relaxed. I didn't insult you or say anything insinuating that I wasn't.
I'm deciding what you meant by what you literally said.

You agreed with someone saying she's box office poison, I replied showing how that's not true and that while she's not a huge grossing actress, her movies for the most part are grossing fine maybe not as much as studios may want but there's no obvious sign that they're losing money. You switch up and say you were talking about quality, which I agree the quality is not all there. I also point out that being box office poison had to do with the money made not the quality of the movies. You say I need to relax even though Im perfectly calm, I'm just pointing out how your and other's earlier statements were incorrect.
It's all good. I was just pointing out people saying something that is incorrect.

Her grosses are fine. I havent seen real evidence that they havent been fine since 2013. I don't know what the logic is saying she's box office poison when her last 3 major releases movies made 100+ mill on 50 mill or less production budgets. Sure 5th Wave isn't the Hunger Games rip off they wanted, yes Neighbors 2 didn't gross nearly as much as the first one (and that would stall the franchise) but they still did fine unless they spent blockbuster amounts on the marketing, which I saw no evidence of. None of them flopped
. I showed the numbers that prove theyre fine. Not great. But fine.

If me just pointing the fallacies means I need to relax then ok.

Doesn't box office poison imply that SHE is the one keeping people from watching her films? I don't think many people actively dislike her.

I dont really think there is anyone really considered box office poison nowadays. I think it's mostly that actors/actresses don't appear in good movies, not that the majority of people think "Oh _____ is in this. I'm not gonna watch"

Even Shamylan's last movie grossed a decent amount

And then even on the flip side, I don't think there are that many box office draws either. Maybe just The Rock and Kevin Hart

^Tom Cruise consistently rakes in money. But that's probably because of his involvement in all his movies.

Cruise and the Rock are definitely draws. DiCaprio as well. He doesn't act in blockbusters but his name means something.

Ehhhh I think that's debatable. Mission Impossibles make money and he doesn't really have a flop other than Rock of Ages but I wouldnt necessarily a draw anymore.
But I can see why people would say that

I was talking blockbusters but yeah DiCaprio is one too

Cruise seems bankable to me. Edge of Tomorrow tripled it's budget with a ****** ad campaign of a relatively unknown property.

Di Caprio and the Rock are the biggest draws in Hollywood right now. I want to also say RDJ, but he seems to be playing it safe lately with just being Ironman. He has to prove himself outside the MCU. I wonder how a third Sherlock film will do today. I am still waiting for one.

He proved himself with the Sherlock films you mentioned. Plus that comedy he did with Galifianakis was a hit too. His box office appeal may have cooled since then (outside the mcu) but ah well. I can't feel sorry for multi millionaires who never have to work again if they don't want to :hehe:

TBH I'm so surprised that she's relevant enough to have an active 3 page thread. :ninja: :funny:

Oh, come on. Suspiria is one of the all-time great horror films. A remake is completely pointless.
