Choose your favourite Evil Superman

Hey DC fans,

there have been plenty of evil versions of Big Blue, which one's your
favourite.

Suggestions, (and yes, I meant to put in a poll but clicked too fast, damn browser error !)

Ultraman, Superman Prime, Earth 2 evil Superman + any others you can think of

(I suppose you could count Cyborg Superman and Bizarro)


My current fav has to be Earth 2's evil Superman, because he's such a
badass, like a less crazy, more vicious version of Superman-Prime.

I mean, he ripped off Atom's arm and beat him down with it, OUCH !

This guy doesn't take any **** at all ! Hope they don't kill him off.

I prefer the Supermen who aren't really 'bad' but act differently for different reasons like in Red Son where he took over the world because in how he was raised it seemed like the best course of action.

Good call. Red Son Superman isn't really evil, in fact the bulk of his actions
are noble and actually improve the world. He just can't see the bigger
picture.

Well really though, what makes a better story? An invincible jerk takes over the world cause he's a jerk or someone with limited life experiences but good intentions and unlimited power tries to 'fix' the world?

IMO Red Son is a great Superman story. One of the big underlying questions of Superman is "why doesn't he just fix the world?" because really, at the end of the day as DC's most powerful superhero he could if he really wanted to, and Red Son is all about him trying to do just that.


I really enjoy the elseworlds approach to Superman alternate views of how the DC universe would have turned out if Superman's life had been a little different. Really enjoyed "The Nail" . Found the Dark Knight Returns version of Superman kind of depressing, that he still had good intentions but wasn't able to make much difference except propping up the status quo.

I think an interesting story would have been what Superman, Wonder Woman and their Daughter did after Miller's Dark Knight Strikes Again.
In fact, a Frank Miller Superman story, (as in a story with Superman as the main character) would probably make an interesting read.

my absoulte fav would have to be
1)Justice Lord Superman

dude is everthing superman is only if he took that "next step"( and we all know what that step is!)he's like that thought you have of someone you freaking dislike and wish you could heat vision them! only cause of your sense of morality( and going to jail!) stops you) He's that dude but with that part turned off! the only reason batman is never a smear when they fight is cause the"real" one holds back!this guy doesnt!

2) Superboy prime

just a utter %^&head!! with all of the planet juggling powers of the silver age Superman! dude is like a kid with a massive ID throwing a temper tantrum and also a battleship at you! Man! to kick Krypto!!that is one EVIL DUDE!! plus he had his mom scared ^&*less if she burnt his cheese sandwhich! you know those bratty kids you see at the grocery store! thats this dude only he can throw a building at you!

Lord Superman is cool.

Personally, I dislike Superman Prime, because he's a petty *****e bag (and yes, kicking Krypto is just wrong on so many levels).

Still gotta go with Evil Earth 2 Supes, because he may be evil and tears people to pieces

but he's still nice to his ma and pa !

I guess I like my badguys with a slight possibility of redeemability, whereas
Superman Prime's just thoroughly despicable, childish and a jerk. I'm always waiting for someone to come along and kick his ass. Whereas Evil Earth 2 Superman, he does bad stuff, but he does look cool doing it. You could like the guy, if he wasn't so damn destructive.

so now he's really irredeemable ! I'm still going with Earth 2 evil Superman as
my fave, but Ultraman is very cool, I've always liked him.

Although I have to say that the fact that he's vulnerable to sunlight in Forever evil is just stupid. I mean, I get that he's meant to be the opposite to Superman, but really ? Sunlight ? That's just dumb ! A couple of smurfs could
kick his ass, if he fights them on a clear day.

For a great depiction of Ultraman, you should check out Grant Morrison's JLA Earth 2. Great art, and an interesting story. Even though Supes and Ultraman don't actually fight, it's still a great read.

Totally dude ! The "Forever Evil" Ultraman is a ***** by comparison,
I'm still incredulous about the sunlight thing. I liked the ending of Forever Evil,
but the sunlight thing is still lame, there were so many ways they could
have taken Ultraman out.

Anyway, while evil Earth 2 Superman still is my fave, Ultraman is damn cool
as an evil Superman.

Same here. Justice Lord Superman is my favorite. The best of the best. For a moment, I thought Superman of earth 1, during infinite crisis,was going to be a Justice Lord Superman, only with gray hairs, everything was already here, coming from a different time era where morality was still very strong he could have snapped and gone JLord-ish. It did not go that way in the end, but anyway, Justice Lord Superman is really the best.

Well I'll be damned, it wasn't Superman, it was Bizarro all along.

Funny, Tom Taylor hinted that I'd be surprised by the ending,
when I met him at a comic convention here in NZ. He wasn't wrong.
It's such an obvious answer to why this Superman was evil, and
served Darkseid, but I don't know anyone who thought of it.
Pretty masterful storytelling, we all got sucked into evil Superman
so much that no one realized it wasn't Superman at all.
I can live with that !
