Chris Hemsworth Stars "In The Heart Of The Sea"

The movie didn't flop because of Hemsworth, it flopped because the subject isn't that mass appealing, and the movie isn't that spectacular or anything anyway.

Hemsworth better hope his looks don't fade away any time soon. I never consider him very good actor to begin with, but his thor suits him.

Hemsworth needs to jump into another franchise soon, because Thor won't be enough. And Ghostbusters isn't going to do it, because apparently he's a stupid boy toy in it. Huntsman will bomb. Chris Pratt has Guardians and Jurassic, Chris Pine has Star Trek and now Wonder Woman, Zoe Saldana has Guardians, Star Trek, and Avatar. The list goes on. He needs to hurry or he's going to end up like his brother, or worse... Sam Worthington. Jai Freakin' Courtney of all people gets to be in Die Hard, Terminator, and Suicide Squad with Joker and Harley Quinn, and Divergent. How is that fair?

To be fair to Chris, most of his flops haven't been because he was horrible in it. He got good reviews for Rush as well as Vacation. I think he just needs a better agent.

Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad are complete unknowns at this point. I'd say Hemsworth has more of a sure thing in the Huntsman sequel than they do when it comes to not flopping.

Still think he might be trying to punch above his weight. Hemsworth seems to be after some awards or something and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Yeah, he's got charisma, and he's decent with drama, but he'll never be a great dramatic lead, imo.

He is married to Elsa Pataky. This gorgeous somewhat talented bastah will be fine.

If he wants to become a better actor, he needs to do some independent movies rather than jump at more franchises, no? It's not like he needs more money as his gigs with Marvel and Huntsman should be enough to pay the bill.

Is Shane Black still doing that Doc Savage flick? I think that would work for him. A guy that is rugged pulp action hero but has horrible luck with women.

Were the visuals at the very least good?

I agree, but this may sound shallow, but is he too built for independent movies? He's tall, muscular, leading man looks. I couldn't buy him as some average joe in an independent movie. I like him a lot on a personal level because he seems humble and self-deprecating, but his last couple of movies just look like snoozers.

I couldn't see Hemsworth in small indie films, he's too masculine and built and appealing to the mainstream.

But hey, I could be wrong. I once thought Jean Claude Van Damme would never appear in anything resembling a decent acting role but he got raved over for JCVD.

If Hemsworth did want to move on to headline a franchise, I could see him as He-Man if they ever get the Master of the Universe movie(s) off the ground. It's not a huge stretch from Thor, and I'd imagine they'd set up it as a hugely lucrative film/merchandise/toys/games setup appealing to kids, bit like Transformers and Jurassic Park. He's got the looks and build and charisma.

Well it works for Hugh Jackman. Kinda.

I was trying to picture him as "Nathan Drake"

Nah.

Movie already fails in my mind

Yes, WB and Universal are 2 sides of a seesaw this year. Universal will never, NEVER have another year as successful as this year was for them so they'd better get their future expectations sobered up rather than some stupid idea that this is the new normal for them. And WB will rebound, I have no doubt.

Sure just do a combo of "Jurassic World 2" and "Fast and Furious"

Why wasn't "Moby Dick" simply adapted? Did someone else have the rights? Why did it have to be this "the inspiration for the book" angle? My guess is that most people wouldn't know the difference/don't care about the real-life events that preceded the novel.

Moby Dick has been adapted multiple times; I think the goal here was to show something different.

How's that working outside so far?

Wow hate I'm hearing mostly negative reviews. The movie looked beautiful and brilliant. I'm sure I'll see watch it. But may not go to the theater to see it.

At the end of the day does the viewing public really want to see a movie about men slowly and cruelly killing innocent whale/s? I don't.

i saw it with my mom & dad we all liked it!! it was ok!! i enjoyed it!! last couple times the moby dick is kind of boring!! i remember the one on tnt it was like min series it star patrick stewart it was boring i couldn't get into it! this one was ok!! i enjoyed it!! i think tom holland be good spider-man!! i really didn't realize if he would make an good peter parker but i didn't think andrew garfield would be an good peter parker/spider-man he surprised me!!

Not a chance in hell. Paul Walker can't die again and JW's sequel won't have the nostalgia factor to aid it. The next installments of both of these franchise are guaranteed to drop. Count on it.

Chris Pine has also been unable to have a solid hit outside of Star Trek, so I'm not sure that he's a good example. Lest we forget the dearly departed Jack Ryan franchise.

I don't know if it was just me but they didn't do much marketing for this movie and the trailer I saw for it wasn't all that interesting or informative.

In fact had I not already known it was the basis for Moby Dick I would have assumed they were trying to rip it off.
