Christopher Nolan's 'Memento' to Get Remake

This is the dumbest **** I've heard in a long time, and I don't expect it to see the light of day.

Holy idiotic ideas, Batman.

Another pointless and unnecessary remake to add to the Hollywood remakes list.

Yeah, to be fair, I'm not outraged in a "how DARE they!" sort of way, it just seems like a really dumb idea that is only going to attract negative backlash.

I usually don't care when movies get remade, but this one legitimately made me mad.

Why in blue hades would you remake this?

Nice! That means were just a couple years away from a remake of Batman Begins.

But, I mean.... is Memento really the right movie to do that?

Sure, why not? Has some name recognition. Probably won't have to spend that much on it. Plenty of people who've never seen the original probably will check it out and those who have will too. I assume that's how the execs are thinking.

Could be better than Interstellar.:o

No one's talking about the potential Sliding Door remake from the same financiers?

When I think of profitable names and properties, Memento doesn't even enter my mind. A psychological thriller with non-linear storytelling does not equal a money machine. Unless they're making it for the Oscar season in order fill up another slot, I see no purpose in remaking it.

But it still shouldn't be remade tho. I actually can't wait to see how this plays out cause it will crash and burn at the box office.

Oh I agree that it shouldn't be remade, but I don't think Memento is really comparable to Fight Club or Pulp Fiction, or that the internet will stop this production.

The time to remake Donnie Darko is upon us.

Come now studios, I want you to remake another classic, like Kill Bill.

:o

This has to be one of the most bizarre remakes I can ever recall. Of all films screaming to be remade Memento ranks somewhere between The Cannonball Run 2 and Octopussy.

I think there's potential in something grander. Compare Philip K. Dick's 'Minority Report' short story, to Spielberg's high-octane blockbuster thriller adaptation. The DNA of the story is in tact, but the meat of the film has been amplified to suit a bigger audience. A similar tactic could be employed here. Incidentally I think even Nolan himself could make for an awesome re-do. He's a more versatile and experienced director than he once was.
