Christopher Nolan's 'Memento' to Get Remake

Are they remaking this because they forgot the original existed? ;)

Wait, why exactly are they remaking this? What a stupid decision!

The problem is, is there actually anybody who understands the whole thing besides Nolan?

Everybody has theory, sure (Teddy was right, imo?), but without actually knowing what it was all about, how do you wanna make a meaningful remake?

It was about time they remade this. The original is way too confusing and, seriously, tattoos are just a fading trend now. They need to streamline the editing, make it coherent and have Leonard tweet himself the clues instead of the tattoos. Maybe even with Instagram pictures, with some cool filters to add some extra edge - that will definitely make the movie much more relevant to today's modern audiences.

Guy Pearce and Carrie-Ann Moss? Nah, man. Get Chris Pratt and ScarJo on this, like, now.

Yup. Instead have the main character sport a mohawk. Or a shaved temple on one side. That's the trend these days.

Get JJ Abrams or Snyder to direct.

By the time this movie gets released.
it will be seventeen or even eighteen years later.
For me that is close enough to twenty years, which I think is the bare minimum time to remake a film
That having been said,
I wouldn't touch this project with a ten foot pole.

I think there's potential in something grander. Compare Philip K. Dick's 'Minority Report' short story, to Spielberg's high-octane blockbuster thriller adaptation. The DNA of the story is in tact, but the meat of the film has been amplified to suit a bigger audience. A similar tactic could be employed here. Incidentally I think even Nolan himself could make for an awesome re-do. He's a more versatile and experienced director than he once was.
Sure, I can already imagine a scenario where they can translate Leonard's condition to someone in the police force and he/she has to endure and somehow overcome it. A myriad stories could be created out of that very basic concept. If that's their idea moving forward, then it's fine but I'd hesitate to name it a "remake".

The original is Nolan's best film and a masterpiece, there is no way this remake is gonna turn out anywhere near as good.

He's also WAY less subtle. Leonard would probably just tattoo the movie's thematic arc across his chest.

I'm PRAYING Kurt Wimmer doesn't get picked to write/direct this. That guy's a hack.
