Colorado Sells Approx $1 Million of Pot on First Day of Legalization

You can smoke in public. I live in CO and I voted to legalize. I pay income taxes in CO. It's a great movie for CO and so will follow the rest of the US. I am not talking about the ramifications of the law.

hahahahalolhahaha i kno rite?

I'm sure their time would be much better spent criticizing people on the internet.

I had to wait in line at Starbucks for 4 hours in the snow to be able to get free wifi after my purchase to be able post online criticisms. I feel so good now.

Amendment 64 does not permit the consumption of marijuana openly and publicly. It must be done at home. Under the law an adult can consume marijuana on private property unless a property owner prohibits it.

I live here dude. People were smoking in public before this law and will so after. Just don't do it in front of a cop like everyone was doing before. They only passed that law so the influx of newbs wouldn't create a cloud of weed smoke everywhere and be puffing proudly in front of a cop.

well I'm not from there dude....and when I read the laws I kind of figure those are the laws....

The cops in Boulder really don't care or were very lax about it even before it was legal...haven't been up since it was legalized. You could walk up and down the outdoors mall and see/smell people smoking. Denver/Boulder and Austin in my experiences were very lax about weed even though it was illegal. TX will be one of the last ones to legalize but Austin loves their weed. I am not a pothead but I have some major pothead friends and they would light up anywhere/everywhere in public in Boulder and Austin. Now if you did that in Podunk, TX or South, CO then you are probably screwed.

Wow that's pretty nuts. I live in FL where its pretty much as illegal as coke and heroine. The war on drugs down here is pretty brutal.

I was starting to think today what state would be next. I can honestly see California being next. Medical weed is legal and that states in such financial ****.

I think a right wing, Southern border state will follow after CA with drug running being such a hot commodity. TX...no. CA yes...AZ maybe?

I was thinking those rural back water states would be next. Above the bible belt...maybe like Idaho/Missouri/Kansas type states.

"Gimme mah drugs! I wunt to see silly and weird things in mah brain."

Legalizing weed isn't the same thing as legalizing gay marriage or race equality. If legalizing weed is your life's work then well.........congrats? You have accomplished your goal that will be written in the history books.

Again, all for legalization...but the people getting overly excited about this are sad to me. Congrats on being able to get baked at home and in public legally.

Google some images from the "end of prohibition". People were celebrating in the streets, bars were packed beyond full capacity and it was only illegal for a dozen years.

Cannabis has been illegal for 75 years and you're saying people are losers for making an event out of legalization?

Are countless people around the world unfairly persecuted for the past 75 years for using the internet?

Were millions of Americans arrested for using the internet harmlessly?

Did you know of people who lost custody of their children because they used the internet?

If these were the case and the internet finally became legal you'd have good reason to stand in line for 4 hours to celebrate.

It's more important than a new Star Wars movie or Xbox.

Drunk...high...it's all idiocy.

Is is stupid to use something that improves the sensation of food, sex, art, nature, etc?

If so then isn't any form of pleasure "stupid"?

Recreational sex? Eating something that taste good? Listening to pleasurable music? What's the point?

As a staunch supporter of marijuana legalization, I wonder how long it'll take for New York to follow suit. Or hell, even Jersey or Connecticut. Can you purchase it even if you're not a resident of the state?

The East coast is way behind the West Coast. Just compare the medical marijuana industry in both areas. It's booming in the west and nonexistent in the east.

You can purchase an once if you're a state resident and only a quarter of an ounce if you reside out of state.

I live in Colorado, and drove by one of the shops this morning on my way to work. The line was around the block, it's a little ridiculous.

I'm all for legalization and am a supporter of it, but there are a lot of stupid people who will most likely either ruin it for everyone or give ammo to the critics of the law.

It'll still be a long time before it's accepted as a normal everyday thing.

Once there are more stores the crowds and prices should go down.

Lol, you guys, the first page of this thread I can read just fine, but the second page gets blocked out by my company's web filter. What the heck are you guys doing on page 2?! :funny:

I fully support the legalization of marijuana but if you waited in line for hours outside in the cold and then paid outrageously overtaxed prices for weed...you are pathetic. If this made you really excited and you took the day off of work to smoke weed all day...you are pathetic.

I've seen so many of your posts in which it seems you deliberately try to be contrary.

There isn't any good reasoning behind what you're saying. Who are you to tell another person what they do with their day off is pathetic? Makes no sense. It's an utterly subjective thing.

So you're deliberately trying to be contrary.

That's pathetic.

Legalizing weed is a lifelong movement for some? Lol. They are the Rosa Parks of weed!!!

How many people's lives have been ruined through being locked up for smoking weed? :whatever: The harm that's been caused just in that alone is massive.

There's two options here.

1. You're deliberately trying to be contrary.

2. Can you guess what number 2 is?
