Colorado Sells Approx $1 Million of Pot on First Day of Legalization

How many people's lives have been ruined through being locked up for smoking weed? :whatever: The harm that's been caused just in that alone is massive.

There's two options here.

1. You're deliberately trying to be contrary.

2. Can you guess what number 2 is?

Yup, someone is arrested for cannabis every 42 seconds.

Fighting against such foolish laws is indeed a worthy cause.

Where do these people work? Are companies there not going to random drug test?

Google some images from the "end of prohibition". People were celebrating in the streets, bars were packed beyond full capacity and it was only illegal for a dozen years.
If you waited in line for hours to have a beer when prohibition ended then you are either an alcoholic or you lead a very fulfilling life. Same thing applies. I'm fine with celebrating but you need help if weed or alcohol is that big of a deal in your personal life to spend hours waiting.

The laws leave it up to each employer to drug test for weed or not.

So it depends who your boss is and how they feel about a stoned workforce.

And I'm sure many of those people and others think that reading comics and posting on message boards is pathetic and you need help, so what's your point, do you even have one?

They can have an opinion too and I expressed mine. What's your point?

I'd agree if they waited hours in line on a regular basis.

But this is just a bunch of people rushing out to see the first cannabis stores in United States history.

Most of these people probably thought they would never live to see the day when they could walk into a store and buy weed legally for recreation inside the United States.

This is not a case of addicts desperate for a hit. Most probably can smoke on a regular basis illegally. It's about witnessing a historical event bigger than a new Star Wars movie or Xbox console (both of which people stand in line for hours for).

I didn't mean people going to work high. They need test which I'm sure they have where they test you on the spot similar to a D.u.i. It just sucks how long it stays in your system.

Who gives a **** if someone's life is ruined because of weed legal ramifications? You willingly chose to do something illegal no matter what your personal beliefs are. That was one of the dumbest questions I've seen on here.

I'm deliberately contrary to idiocy on here. You can take that one of two ways.

Honestly life is too short to obey stupid laws.

Would you go your entire life without oral sex because of anti-sodomy laws?

What if it were illegal to learn how to read?

Would you fault people for breaking such idiotic/unjust laws or fault the institutions for having such idiotic/unjust restrictions on people?

Bet my brother wishes we still lived there. He's a massive pot head.

Yeah but most employers will use a urine drug test which doesn't test for recent sobriety, it test for any weed use within the past month.

In other words some workers won't be able to smoke cannabis at any time.

I don't think any work place I've been at has used drug tests. I don't recall taking one at Walmart nor at current retail job.

I give a **** because it's a completely victimless crime that no one should be arrested for. Speeding is a far more dangerous crime than smoking and possessing marijuana, and you only get a ticket for speeding.

!

So homosexuals deserved what they got in the past? Like in the UK, when Alan Turing had the choice between imprisonment or hormonal treatment to reduce libido?

Or how about anti-homosexual laws in Uganda?

Do gay people deserve what they get when homosexual behavior is illegal?

You say that, but clearly you're the one that's not actually thinking through your positions beyond this black and white world view, you're not applying reason, empathy, or understanding that people's subjective tastes differ (some people think queuing up to go to comic con would make you pathetic, for example).

Either you're trying your best to be contrary on purpose, or...
This has nothing to do with civil rights or anti-gay laws and if you equate it to that then I continue my battle.

Everyone can have an opinion and so can I. I can state mine on here. Some people probably think queuing at Comiccon overnight is stupid. That has nothing to do with the topic. Weed isn't even in the same league as seeing a panel at Hall H or a man not being able to marry his boyfriend in most states. Grasping at those straws....

Time to open up any time of fast food place really. Especially if you have the hours open til 5 AM or so.

Are you saying seeing a panel at hall H is more important than witnessing the end of prohibition?

And gay marriage is more important to a gay person than it is to cannabis user. And legalization is more important to a cannabis user than a gay person. Different people prioritize historical events differently. No single priority is correct for everyone.

No ****, huh? That doesn't make you exempt from people having an opinion on your selfish, judgmental, crass, ugly, contrarian opinions.

No surprise here. Chaseter judging people as always.

Also, I agree with you that this should not be compared to things like Gay Marriage becoming legal but this is a great step away from the ignorant and brain washing propaganda that marijuana has dealt with for decades. This is all for tax revenue of course but at least the government is starting to allow it. In a round about way they're basically admitting that they've been lying all this time that marijuana is a terrible drug to where it used to get compared to **** like heroin.

Why shouldn't legalization be compared to gay marriage?

Yes it's important that everyone be able to have their love acknowledged equally...

But how many children have been taken away from their parents because of prohibition? How many billions have lost in tax revenue? How many millions have had their careers and personal lives derailed because of an arrest record? How many billions have been diverted to cartels and gangs who kill thousands of people? How many medical patients have suffered pointlessly because they couldn't get relief with medical marijuana? How many violent criminals are allowed to roam the streets because the justice system was tied up with harmless weed users?

To say legalization is not a noble cause is to not fully understand the tragic ramifications of prohibition.

I dunno about you guys but, I'm high as **** right now, grinning from ear to ear. Group hug, guys!!
