I was just wondering what happens to the Earth 2 plot stemming from Son of the Demon where Bruce Wayne and Talia births Ibn Al Xu'ffasch. I would like to read more about Batman's son - does anyone know which comics he appears in besides Son of the Demon and Kingdom Come?

This isn't Earth-2. Son of the Demon was very much post-Crisis and is being brought into continuity.
Check out the Elseworlds stories Brotherhood of the Bat and League of Batmen for more 'possible future' tales of the son of Bruce and Talia.

Ah... Forgive me for being a little ignorant when it comes to comic terms - I don't get much comics from where I'm at, I mainly base my knowledge on the animated series and the movies. If someone could help explain the following:

1. What's the difference between Earth 2 and Elseworlds?
2. I keep hearing about post and pre-crisis. What exactly is this 'crisis'? I only know the deal about the quake, but that isn't the crisis right?
3. Also I read a graphic novel some time back... Death and the Maidens I think. It stated that Ra's Al Ghul died, killed by his own Israeli daughter. Is that mainstream? And is he really dead?

Basically, there were a ton of different Earths back in the 60s with DC. One had the Justice League, the other had the Justice Society. In one, Batman was married to Selina, in another he was single, etc. Back in the 1980s, DC had a huge event called Crisis on Infinite Earths that combined all the Earths of the DCU into one major Earth. Characters died, events were eliminated, etc. I never read the story, and don't intend to, but that's the long and the short of it.
Elseworlds is a now-defunct imprint of DC that told stories that could have happened - but didn't. For instance: Superman crash landing on Apokalips instead of Earth, or in Gotham City instead of Kansas, or Batman solving crimes alongside Harry Houdini.

1. Earth-2 is (was) a parallel world with different versions of common characters. Like Ben Urich mentioned, Elseworlds are basic 'What If' stories out of continuity.

2. The 'Crisis' refers to Crisis on Infinite Earths, a 1985-86 series, that served to simplify the DC continuity by eliminating the Multiverse (parallel worlds home to multiple versions of characters that existed in their own respective universes). By the conclusion of the series, only Earth-1 remained. This is where current comics take place and the modern characters exist. Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis simply refer to events and characterization before or after the series.

3. Death and the Maidens is the correct name of the graphic novel. In it Ra's was killed by a daughter, Nyssa Raatko, who sought revenge for Ra's abandoning her many years earlier. This is current continuity and as far as we know, Ra's is still dead.

That's the basic gist of it. The Crisis and Multiverse stuff can get fairly complicated at first. If you wanna know more...

The Crisis
Earth-2
The Multiverse
Nyssa Raatko

Btw, it seems that Ibn will be brought in continuity starting with Grant Morrison's run on Batman #655 (July). I know you said you get many comics, but maybe you could keep up with what's happening with that via the Net.

Wow, thank you very much Mister J and Ben Urich.

One more question if you don't mind... How old is Ibn Al Xu'ffasch and Bruce Wayne in current continuity?

It's hard to say. I don't know that either is specific. I wanna say that Ibn is about 14 and Bruce in his mid to late thirties, but it's just guesswork on my part.

Here's some promo art from a later issue on Morrison's run (Batman and Son):

When was the first appearance of Terry McGinnis in DC continuity? Wasn't it in a Superman/Batman book a few months ago or was it earlier on?

Also, aren't there some comics that have Superman and Batman's sons teaming up back in the 70's?

Yeah, but that was in an alternate reality/dimension thingy, so it really doesn't count...much.

And I dont' think it was Terry - if I remember correctly, the Batman Beyond in that was talking to someone in his earpiece and they called him Tim.

I heard it was a mistake and they changed it to Terry for the tpb.

Ok, I found the info.

"It would appear from #23 that this Batman is someone named Tim presumably Tim Drake. However, the writers admitted to the mistake of misnaming the character, and the name will be changed to "Terry" in the trade paperback."

My friend. You really have to read The Kingdom. NOT Kingdom Come, but it's sequel. Ibn plays a big role in that book. He's does some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen in comics. All in all, I'll just say this - As a thinker, he's a combo of Batman and Ra's, as well as in swordsmanship. And he definitely makes it clear, without even saying it, that he is Batman's son. I'll just leave it at that. Must read. Enjoy:up:

Thanks Ibn! I'll keep a lookout for that comic.

Wow, that's the dumpest thing I ever heard. Was that Jeph's fault?

That's really a minor fub in comparison to some other comics. Thankfully.

Wow. I didn't know that. I just assumed it was Tim Drake. Pretty odd....I mean, how do you fumble that easy pass?

Because the writers on batman/superman are not the same on batman beyond or any animated series. They just know the image not the story. I mean they used an older batplane design. An easy pass to fumble is calling bruce brad all issue.

whoa, Batman has a son? good luck working that into a movie

I doubt they'll try to make that storyline in the next few Batman movies.
