Following the reveal of its new expansion and Xbox One release date, Conan Exiles developer Funcom hosted a livestream showing off the game running on Xbox One for the first time. What's immediately apparent is just how smoothly Conan Exiles' PC-oriented UI has been streamlined to work within the limitations of a controller. Check it out.

As you can see, the gameplay takes place within the new Frozen North expansion area and also shows off a few of the new gameplay mechanics. Temperature was teased as a new feature in the reveal, and the stream indicates that proximity to a heat source (IE: Fire) functions as a way to warm yourself up. There are also certain types of structures that better insulate the player from the cold, as building torches and fireplaces are very much a requirement in the frigid temperatures.

Conan Exiles to partially restrict nudity on Xbox One

August 15, 2017http://massivelyop.com/2017/08/15/conan-exiles-to-partially-restrict-nudity-on-xbox-one/ 29 comments

Can barbarians experience censorship and shame? On a recent livestream, the Conan Exiles team briefly explained that there will be one significant difference between the European and North American versions of the Xbox client: nudity.

Specifically, it sounds as though the NA version will only have the options for fully clothed or topless characters, whereas the EU version will share the PC’s ability to show downtown plumbing if players desire. Because immersion cannot be reached unless your game world looks like the locker room at the gym, of course.

It’s a two-for-one special on news for Conan Exiles today! First up, the game has officially released into “game preview” on Xbox One, bringing the survival sandbox to a console for the first time. Players will need to fork over $35 for the privilege of playing this alpha game, however.

Of interest to PC and Xbox players alike is today’s launch of The Frozen North biome expansion. The free expansion adds 70% more (snowy and rainy) landmass to Conan Exiles, introduces the avatar Ymir, and provides players with plenty of new armor, weapons, enemies, Read more

Funcom and Koch Media have announced a global co-publishing partnership for the open-world survival game Conan Exiles, which is currently in Early Access on Xbox One and Steam. The full version of the game will launch both physically and digitally for PlayStation 4,

Xbox One, and PC in early 2018.

Here’s a brief overview of the game, via Funcom:
In this online survival game players get to build anything from small homes to entire cities, explore a huge open world, team up with other players, or seek to dominate their enemies through brutal player vs. player combat. The game is set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, and players get to explore vast landscapes and either fight each other or cooperate to build a community of their own.
Find comments from both parties below.

Rui Casais, Funcom CEO
“We are thrilled to be working with Koch Media again in bringing the world’s greatest barbarian back into store shelves. Their experience as a world-leading publisher combined with their extensive retail network will help bring Conan Exiles to an even wider audience. The fact that they know and understand Conan is also a huge benefit that will ensure all aspects of publishing the game will be executed in the true spirit of the Conan the Barbarian brand.”

Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, Koch Media CEO
“We are delighted to revive our successful cooperation with Funcom which we established during the work for Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer. The immense open world experience and comprehensive survival and sandbox elements in Conan Exiles impressed us. We are proud that we can take part in the next phase of this project and will focus all our know-how to build the road for a successful retail launch of the game for PC and consoles.”

Funcom CEO Would Like Steam Reviews to be Region-Locked

Posted Sep 13, 2017| 28 Comments

CEO Rui Casais would like to see Steam user reviews to be region locked. He cites that sometimes games get "review bombed" by disaffected users who may be having issues that are not present in other regions.

Casais spoke with GamesIndustry.biz about a recent spate of "review bombs" launched at Conan Exiles by Chinese users as his case-in-point.Read more

What is best in life? Ham. Delicious, well-cooked ham, with some nice potatoes and an appropriate wine. Don’t laugh, because that’s an important aspect to consider now when you’re playing Conan Exiles.

Sure, you need to periodically eat and drink anyway, but the expanded food system lets you get even more benefits out of taking the time to cook things well instead of just eating whatever is close at hand.

Of course, players can’t simply toss some ham at a fire and expect a perfectly cooked meal. The really explore the joy of cooking you’ll need to build a full kitchen, Read more

Latest Newsletter Details Thrall Inventories, Temperature Changes & More

Posted Oct 17, 2017| News | 1 Comment

The latest Conan Exiles newsletter has been posted to give the community a bird's eye view of what the development team has been working on.

Most notably in the "Current State of PC" section, information is provided about how thrall inventories are now out on Testlive.

This will make moving and deploying thralls simpler by allowing Archer, Fighter and Dancer thralls to "follow" the player instead of packing them away in inventory.Read more

Funcom’s latest Conan Exiles newsletter is short and sweet and a week behind, but there are still a few tidbits worth sharing, including an on-the-way Xbox One patch and a new content update for Steam players next week, the latter of which touches on “thrall inventories, new building pieces and repair kits.” In the meantime, the studio is working on new clothes, dynamic weather, and a new mug for Conan himself – because Crom forbid Conan look like some sort of old.
“The Art team has given Conan a facelift so he’ll look better during cinematics. With some digital botoxing, tucking and lifting, the hardened barbarian looks at least ten years younger.”

Conan Exiles deals with bed bugs while bringing the Xbox and PC into parityDecember 1, 2017 5 comments

After consuming the recent Conan Exiles newsletter, we are concerned that the Funcom team is succumbing to early winter madness over in Norway. At least, the studio’s gleeful talk of tackling literal bed bugs (as in, issues with bedrolls) and poetic descriptions of players leaping out of the water like dolphins is giving us that impression.

In all seriousness, it does sound like there’s a lot being done to this survival sandbox as the team scrambles to get as much work in as possible before the holidays. Chat windows are being cleaned up, war paint is on the way, and there’s something about a populated volcano that is on the way…

Xbox One players will be pleased to find that their version of the game was patched up this week to come into parity with the PC version. This means that the console Conans now have all of the newer features and fixes that their PC,Read more

The Stream Team: Speed building in Conan Exiles

December 1,2017 1 comment

[YT]7A6TeeCCLTQ[/YT]
Usually, building in Conan Exiles is a long process. Much of that time goes to gathering the materials. Crafting itself may be the quickest part as — at least for Massively OP’s MJ — placing your pieces just right might take a great deal of time (and not a few do-overs!). So what if you can forgo the first two steps and just focus on the actual construction? What could you build? MJ is going to demonstrate some speed building with the various components.Read more

Conan Exiles isn’t going the lockbox and battle royale route – for now

http://massivelyop.com/2018/02/21/c...-the-lockbox-and-battle-royale-route-for-now/

Are you a little sick and tired of lockboxes everywhere and all of these games desperately trying to jump onto the battle royale bandwagon? It might be of some small comfort that Funcom has no immediate plans to add either to Conan Exiles (although “never say never” and all that).

Creative Director Joel Bylos addressed these issues and more in an interview with PC Gamer. Now that Conan Exiles is just two-and-a-half months from official release, Bylos said that the team is working hard to making the whole package work, even if it means cutting content.

Bylos was asked several questions about the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and how it could impact Conan Exiles’ profile. “You just do your thing and make things that are unique and interesting,” he said,Read more

The Purge is coming to Conan Exiles. And that’s not even the scariest thing in this week’s newsletter!

“The Purge mechanic will spawn in creatures and NPCs to attack your base in order to destroy things, even when you’re not logged in,” Funcom says. “You’ll need to consider the placement of traps, walls, thralls and other defences to protect your stuff. The Purge mechanic will be active on all official servers.

On private servers an administrator can customize and configure the Purge or turn it off completely if they so choose.”

Three more weeks until content lock, and then the game launches for real in May! The newsletter also talks bow mechanics, Read more
