Concerts

My friend almost got me to get tickets to go to Virgin fest with him, I really wanted to see the 311/Matsiyahu/Bad Brains/Police/Incubus/Beastie Boys line up, but its way to far away for me :(

Anyone seen Brand New this year? I'm curious to see what their new show is like.

Easily my fav band, and i drove down to Austin to see them last time because the Fort Worth show was sold out. Its a great show, as always. Real personality as a live band.

I saw them circa Your Favorite Weapon era and Deju Entendu era, respectively, they were great both times, phenomonal the second time.

I'd love to see how their show has changed since TDAGARIM.

They're fantastic, easily one of my top 5 bands, ever.

This summer I've seen Roger Waters (well, it was in May), Stevie Nicks, and Steppenwolf with Rick Derringer opening for them. I may see ZZ Top as well as Def Leppard with Foreigner and Styx pretty soon.

There are alot of good concerts going on this summer, and so I have made this thread to ask the question: What concerts are going to (or have you gone to) this summer? Or even what has been your favorite concert so far? Discuss....
For me, I am going to a Reel Big Fish/ Streetlight Manifesto Concert this Thursday in NYC, and later on this month Im going to two 311/Matisyahu concerts back to back (one at Jones Beach and one in NJ) Which should be pretty sick since this might be 311's last Unity tour...
Light summer for me, only going to Velvet Revolver, (holding out hope that AiC will open at that show) but in the Spring I went to Eric Clapton...

haha nah actually, western pennsylvania. but RATM and QOTSA is worth the 8 hour drive.

that sucks! but you're right . . . it'll be worth the trip . . . RAGE put on one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life

You do win. I' m dying to see Wolfmother live... if only they'd come to the northeast some time soon.

man . . . they ROCKED it! The singer really surprised me, cuz he sounded basically verbatim to the album . . . after I saw them live, I saw a concert show in TV and he sounded like shyt! go figure . . .

I saw Jonny Lang Monday night at the Birchmere. Damn fine show.

I wanted to see Gorgo Bordello tonight at the 9:30 Club but I waited too late and they sold out. I think I would've bee too tired any way. :csad:

ROCK THE BELLS!

Rage Against the Machine and Wu-Tang Clan headlining...featuring guests like MF Doom, Sage Francis, Living Legends, Hieroglyphics, Def Jux, Rhymesayers and a bunch more!

so many good hip hop artists are going, also considered going to this, however rage will prob be alloted a certain amount of time, and i want them to play all night. so i went with the wisconsin show, but i would love to see cypress hill again. do yourself a favor and check them out.

I went to see Tool June 1st.

It wasn't that great, even though I think they're a great band.

There were a lot of bad points including:

- Too much smoke. Just about everyone was smoking and dry ice was everywhere.
- Bad sound quality. The sound system was giving too much emphasis on some instruments and not enough on others.
- Maynard. Didn't face the audience, didn't sing loud enough, and didn't finish a few songs.
- Overly fanatic fans. I must've heard, "TOOOOOOOOOOL!" one hundred times.
- People singing OVER Maynard. I'd rather hear the actual singer.
- The group I went with would not stop talking to me no matter how much the music drowned them out.

Maybe I'm just not one for stadium shows?

I was going to go to the Reel Big Fish/Streetlight Manifesto, but I decided it'd be too much of a hassle getting transportation (I don't drive yet.).

I'm going to see Vital remains next thursday
On august i'm going to the ozzfest

I can't believe I couldnt get tickets for this, reading off the list of bands performing was like reading a list of all my favorite hip-hop groups :csad:

Family Values in August. Can't wait. Though last year's lineup was much better.

I wanna see the Police SOOOOOO bad. :(
They're not coming anywhere near the area I live in.

Maynard hates his fans. its pretty obvious, look at the bands name. he wants you to buy the t shirts and the cds and the stickers to make his bank account bigger while labeling his fans.. think about it.

the only big band i usually pay to see is the white stripes, whom i've seen 3 times over the past few months. i also saw the black keys not too long ago. my friends band opened for wolfmother, so i got to hang out back stage and see them for free. those are pretty much the only big bands i've seen lately and plan on seeing this summer, the rest are the usual local bands (see sig) who i catch a show from at least once a week.

Anyone know who's playing Warped in Boston this year? I went last year, and I'd have to say that Bullet For My Valentine has the best concert I've ever seen. They sound EXACTLY like their CDs.

I got tix for Rise Against on August 17th. They are headlining, the only reason I'm going. The other bands are Silverstein (not a huge fan, but I hear they put on great shows) and Comeback Kid.

The last time I saw Rise Against (Warped last year) some crowdsurfing *****ebag hit me when their was no muic playing and knocked me out for a few.

Went to a Breaking Benjamin concert recently.

why would you want the band to sound exactly like their CD's live? instead of paying to see them, why not just listen to the CD?

Perhaps. He was the only one who didn't give a "full show." He didn't even stay to accept applause. Everyone I've seen online and everyone I've talked to in real life has made excuses for the times when he does that. "It's a spiritual experience." "The song's about his mom dying and it makes him sad." "He's too humble." All that aside, it shouldn't get in the way of showmanship.

Their music is still pretty good, but either because of their image, greed, or one of the above reasons fans give, they're not a good show.
